Senior Automation QA Engineer
Looking for a Senior Automation Quality Assurance Engineer who thrives on structure, values collaborative teamwork, and is passionate about influencing how quality is defined and achieved across multiple product lines. You will be at the forefront of developing robust testing strategies, guiding automation initiatives, and ensuring seamless delivery between international teams
What you'll do:
As a Senior Automation Quality Assurance Engineer, you will immerse yourself in a dynamic environment where your expertise will drive the evolution of quality assurance across distributed teams. Your day-to-day activities will involve reviewing test outcomes from various teams, prioritising defects alongside development leads, refining test plans for upcoming releases, and mentoring junior analysts on automation techniques. You will collaborate closely with engineering colleagues in both Europe and Malaysia to support seamless workflows while taking ownership of continuous improvements that contribute directly to product stability. By actively participating in user acceptance testing sessions and providing expert guidance to business users, you will help shape how quality is embedded into every stage of the development process. Your ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences will be essential as you present findings to stakeholders and support leadership in identifying trends for further enhancement. Success in this role means not only delivering reliable releases but also nurturing a culture of shared responsibility for quality across regions.
- Define and refine comprehensive testing approaches for both active platforms and new product developments, ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the software lifecycle.
- Establish detailed test plans, test suites, and supporting documentation that underpin predictable release cycles and foster confidence among stakeholders.
- Act as a key point of reference for testing standards and practices within the team, providing guidance across related functions to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Conduct functional, regression, and performance testing with a focus on early defect identification to minimise downstream rework and enhance overall product quality.
- Challenge requirements and solution designs during pre-development reviews to ensure testability, identify potential gaps, and proactively reduce future issues.
- Provide clear, structured defect reports with actionable guidance that supports efficient resolution and long-term prevention of recurring issues.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites within a continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) environment to streamline release processes.
- Mentor team members on automation best practices, fostering knowledge sharing and upskilling within the QA function.
- Apply performance and load testing methodologies using industry-standard tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner to validate system robustness under varying conditions.
- Present quality indicators and test outcomes to delivery leads and product stakeholders, highlighting risks, dependencies, and opportunities for process improvement in a constructive manner.
What you bring:
To excel as a Senior Automation Quality Assurance Engineer in this setting, your background should reflect substantial hands-on experience leading QA efforts within complex technology environments. You bring not only technical proficiency but also interpersonal sensitivity—enabling you to build trustful relationships across diverse teams. Your approach is methodical yet adaptable; you thrive when balancing structured processes with the flexibility required by distributed delivery models. A natural mentor, you enjoy sharing your knowledge of automation frameworks while remaining open to learning from others’ perspectives. Your attention to detail ensures thoroughness in all aspects of testing—from initial planning through execution—while your empathetic communication style fosters understanding among colleagues regardless of their technical background. Above all else, your commitment to continuous improvement drives you to seek out new ways for QA functions to add value throughout the organisation.
- A minimum of five years’ professional experience in quality assurance roles with at least two to three years spent in senior or lead positions focused on manual and regression testing within structured environments.
- A degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field that provides strong technical foundations relevant to advanced QA responsibilities.
- Deep understanding of modern testing methodologies at a senior level with proven ability to challenge existing processes constructively for continual refinement.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test suites—ideally within CI/CD pipelines—and mentoring others on automation strategies.
- Familiarity with performance and load testing methodologies using tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner to assess system resilience under stress conditions.
- Proficiency with test management systems and defect tracking tools like Azure DevOps gained through work in enterprise-level organisations.
- Excellent communication skills enabling you to adapt your style effectively when engaging with both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders across different regions.
- Maturity in prioritising issues efficiently while managing context-switching demands inherent in distributed teams operating across multiple time zones.
- Comfortable collaborating within interdependent teams where shared responsibility is key to achieving common goals despite geographical separation.
