What you'll do:
As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer based in Putrajaya, you will immerse yourself in the heart of technical development for world-class investment infrastructure. Your day-to-day activities will involve conducting thorough reviews of complex codebases to ensure robust system functionality while documenting findings that guide future enhancements. - Systematically review all codebases to map system functions, component interactions, data models, and identify areas of technical debt requiring attention.
- Develop comprehensive inventories of codebases and technical debt, providing structured documentation to inform strategic planning for system rebuilds.
- Produce detailed integration and API dependency maps, outlining call structures, formats, error handling mechanisms, and potential points of failure within the architecture.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to co-author architecture recommendations for system rebuilds and data models tailored to wealth management requirements.
- Participate actively in sprint planning sessions, code reviews, technical troubleshooting, and ensure consistent delivery cadence within the engineering team.
- Maintain high standards for technical architecture across platforms, ensuring all code meets production requirements for regulated financial systems.
- Serve as a key liaison between the local engineering team and global stakeholders, facilitating clear communication on programme delivery progress.
- Mentor junior engineers by sharing knowledge, fostering skill development, and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Contribute to the hiring process by evaluating candidates for technical roles as the engineering function scales up.
- Support ongoing operational excellence by identifying process improvements and championing best practices in quality assurance.
What you bring:
The ideal Senior Quality Assurance Engineer brings extensive hands-on experience from financial technology environments where precision and reliability are essential. Your background includes deep familiarity with complex transactional systems—whether order management or execution management—and you possess advanced skills in multiple programming languages relevant to modern enterprise stacks. Your expertise extends beyond coding: you have demonstrated capability in data modelling for intricate financial relationships using industry-standard databases. You are adept at navigating cloud-based infrastructures such as AWS and can confidently assess existing setups while recommending improvements. Your interpersonal skills enable you to communicate clearly with diverse teams around the globe while mentoring others through knowledge sharing. Experience with FIX protocol debugging or event-driven architectures further enhances your suitability for this role. - Proven experience building or maintaining order management systems, execution management systems, or financial transaction processing platforms within regulated environments.
- Advanced proficiency in reading and reasoning about production codebases written in Java (including Spring Boot), Python, C#, Node.js; with particular depth in Java technologies such as QuickFIX/J and Java batch processing.
- Strong skills in data modelling using relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL; including interpreting existing schemas and designing replacements for complex financial entities.
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure sufficient to evaluate current setups and recommend robust architectures for system rebuilds.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken) enabling effective collaboration with global teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or technically mentor small engineering teams through knowledge sharing and supportive guidance.
- Experience debugging FIX protocol message logs, understanding order/execution message types, and identifying fragile integrations is highly valued.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures using AWS EventBridge, Step Functions, Lambda—especially for financial transaction processing workflows involving ordering, idempotency, error handling.
- Prior involvement in formal technology reviews or architecture assessments is considered advantageous.
- Experience establishing technology teams from inception is strongly appreciated.
