AS400 Developer (NEA Market)

About the Role We are looking for an experienced AS400 Developer to join a leading insurance organisation in Kuala Lumpur. The role will focus on AS400 application development, system support, troubleshooting and enhancement of core business applications.

Key Responsibilities
● Gather and understand business requirements for AS400 application development and enhancement projects.
● Develop and maintain applications using AS400, RPG, RPGLE, COBOL and CLP.
● Provide ongoing application support, including problem investigation, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
● Perform system analysis and technical modelling of core systems based on business requirements.
● Carry out software development, testing and implementation independently.
● Investigate production issues and provide timely and effective solutions.
● Work closely with business users, technical teams and other stakeholders to deliver application changes.
● Perform SQL queries and support database-related activities using DB2 or SQL Server.
● Prepare and maintain technical documentation and system-related documents.
● Support multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.

Requirements
● Minimum 3 years of working experience in AS400 / iSeries / Smart400
environments.
● Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in RPG, RPGLE, COBOL and CLP.
● Good understanding of SQL, with experience using DB2 or SQL Server.
● Experience in application development, system analysis and production support.
● Ability to independently investigate and resolve application issues.
● Additional programming knowledge in Java or Python will be an advantage.
● Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
● Mandarin or Cantonese language skills will be an advantage.
● Strong teamwork, analytical and problem-solving skills.
● Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing tasks under
pressure.
