Coupa Design Lead
A leading organisation is seeking a Coupa Design Lead to play a pivotal role in their global process for a major Coupa and Oracle implementation program. This position provides the opportunity to shape solution quality, drive localisation decisions and ensure alignment with global standards across multiple business units. You will act as the design authority for Coupa, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Global Process, Change Management, Testing, and Cutover.
What you'll do:
As a Coupa Design Lead, you will be entrusted to:
- Own the functional design for Coupa covering Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Expense modules, and related integrations, ensuring solutions meet global standards and control requirements.
- Govern solution design by reviewing and approving localisation requests, assessing impacts and feasibility to maintain alignment with target operating models.
- Document all design decisions thoroughly so they are traceable throughout the project lifecycle, supporting transparency and accountability.
- Apply and continuously refine the Global Coupa Playbook based on rollout feedback, ensuring consistent interpretation of standards across all business units.
- Act as an escalation point for design exceptions or policy deviations, providing guidance and resolution in collaboration with senior stakeholders.
- Establish global finance and procurement standard operating procedures (SOPs) in partnership with other workstreams to drive process harmonisation.
- Support SOX process and control documentation where Coupa is in scope, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assess downstream impacts of design decisions on global process flows and controls, proactively managing risks and dependencies.
- Provide design inputs during Pre-Track activities such as early assessments, workshops, clinics, and Q&A sessions to enable adoption readiness.
- Represent Coupa design in testing, data migration, cutover discussions, partnering with project management and change teams to ensure end-to-end readiness.
What you bring:
To excel as a Coupa Design Lead in Kuala Lumpur’s Group Finance division, you will require:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Accounting or Information Systems provides a strong foundation for this role.
- 8–10 years’ experience in finance transformation or ERP/P2P implementation demonstrates your depth of industry knowledge.
- Deep hands-on experience designing Coupa P2P and Expense modules equips you to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Proven track record leading multi-entity or multi-country rollouts showcases your ability to manage complex projects across diverse environments.
- Experience presenting to large groups of senior stakeholders highlights your communication skills and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Background in insurance or financial services industries is advantageous but not mandatory for success in this position.
- Strong stakeholder management skills enable you to build trustful relationships across teams and functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills ensure clarity when documenting decisions or facilitating presentations.
- Advanced project management capabilities help you coordinate activities efficiently within fast-moving environments.
