Application DBA (Oracle EBS)

About the Role

As an Application Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining the health, security, and performance of application databases that support key financial systems. Your role will involve proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of issues. You will also contribute to system enhancements, integration efforts, and disaster recovery activities while ensuring compliance with security standards. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with at least 5 years of experience or a seasoned leader with over 10 years of expertise looking to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic environment.

• Database Maintenance & Security: Ensure critical patches and database security updates are applied promptly. Plan and execute housekeeping activities to prevent disruptions caused by space constraints or other database issues.
• Performance Optimisation: Monitor database performance during month-end batch executions to meet SLAs. Provide guidance to developers on long-running jobs, execution plans, and tuning requirements.
• Issue Resolution: Address database-related issues impacting business users, track resolutions, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the infrastructure team to address vulnerability findings reported by security teams. Assist in disaster recovery (DR) activities for supported applications.
• User Support: Provide support for Oracle Application Databases and any newly acquired application databases. Assist team members in resolving user issues related to GL, AP, FA, FAH, and other financial systems.
• Enhancements & Integration: Analyze system performance and provide recommendations for enhancements or integrations to improve efficiency and stability.
• Project Management: Ensure project deliverables are completed within stipulated timelines. Prepare documentation and reports for budget planning and drawdown processes as required.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as an Application DBA with 5–10 years of hands-on expertise or more than 10 years with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) databases and related modules such as GL, AP, FA, FAH.
• Proficiency in applying critical patches, managing database security updates, and optimising database performance.
• Experience in monitoring batch loads during peak periods like month-end closures to ensure SLA adherence.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and collaborate effectively with developers and infrastructure teams.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and execution for application databases.
