Data Scientist Manager
A leading global organisation is seeking a Data Scientist to lead analytical workstreams across end-to-end credit card portfolio optimisation projects, translating large-scale transaction data into actionable strategies. Be at the forefront of applying advanced analytics and machine learning to help clients make smarter decisions throughout the card lifecycle, delivering measurable impact through modelling, experimentation and performance measurement.
What you'll do:
As a Data Scientist Manager you will:
- Own analytics workstreams focused on optimising credit card portfolios across acquisition, activation, usage, retention, payment success, fraud detection, and credit risk management.
- Build and deploy statistical models and machine learning solutions to identify opportunities for growth, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation within client portfolios.
- Conduct customer segmentation analyses, lifecycle modelling, propensity modelling, and uplift analysis to inform strategic portfolio decisions.
- Design and evaluate test-and-learn frameworks using control groups, A/B testing methodologies, and causal inference approaches to validate business hypotheses.
- Analyse large-scale transaction, customer, and behavioural datasets from various sources such as issuer data or network data to generate actionable insights.
- Produce robust datasets for predictive modelling by parsing and aggregating incomplete or unstructured data sources efficiently.
- Enhance and optimise codebases for critical business processes while ensuring scalability and reliability of analytical solutions.
- Design and develop interactive dashboards using tools like Tableau or Power BI to facilitate performance tracking and executive-level storytelling.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for both business stakeholders and clients to support decision-making processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate repeatable analyses or build streamlined solutions that improve operational efficiency across teams.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Data Scientist role has:
- A Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related quantitative field is required for this position.
- 5–8+ years of experience in data science or advanced analytics roles within financial services or retail banking environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in credit card portfolio analytics including customer lifecycle modelling or marketing optimisation is essential.
- Advanced proficiency in analytics techniques such as regression analysis, clustering algorithms, classification methods as well as statistical modelling is expected.
- Hands-on experience working with large datasets using SQL, Hive, Hadoop, Spark or Python along with cloud-based analytics environments for data manipulation is necessary.
- Solid grounding in statistical inference principles including experimental design methodologies such as causal inference approaches and time-series analysis is important.
- Practical experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques applied to real-world business problems is advantageous.
- Exposure to fraud detection systems, credit risk assessment tools or payment success optimisation strategies within financial contexts adds value.
- Ability to translate complex analytics into actionable business strategies coupled with strong communication skills for engaging non-technical stakeholders is vital.
- Experience in consulting or client-facing analytics roles where you have delivered impactful recommendations based on data-driven insights is preferred.
