This role is perfect for someone who thrives on transforming complex data into actionable strategies that drive business growth and optimise risk within the credit card portfolio space. You will be at the forefront of analytical workstreams, leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning to deliver impactful solutions across the entire card lifecycle.

What you'll do:

As a Data Scientist Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the analytical agenda for credit card portfolio optimisation projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

  • Own analytical workstreams dedicated to optimising credit card portfolios across acquisition, activation, usage, retention, payment success, fraud detection, and credit risk management.
  • Build and deploy robust statistical models and machine learning solutions aimed at identifying opportunities for growth, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation within the card lifecycle.
  • Conduct customer segmentation analyses as well as lifecycle modelling, propensity modelling, and uplift analysis to shape effective portfolio strategies.
  • Design and evaluate test-and-learn frameworks by implementing control groups, A/B testing methodologies, and causal inference approaches for continuous improvement.
  • Analyse large-scale transaction data sets—including issuer data and network data—to generate meaningful insights that support business objectives.
  • Produce high-quality datasets for predictive modelling by parsing and aggregating incomplete or unstructured data sources from multiple channels.
  • Enhance and optimise codebases critical to business processes while ensuring scalability and reliability of analytical solutions.
  • Design and develop interactive dashboards using tools such as Tableau or Power BI to visualise key performance metrics for stakeholders.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations that are easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repeatable analyses or build streamlined solutions that improve efficiency across analytics functions.


What you bring:

To excel as a Data Scientist Manager in this role, your background should reflect substantial experience in managing complex analytics projects within the financial services sector—particularly those involving :

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related quantitative discipline is required for this position.
  • At least 5–8 years of experience in data science or advanced analytics roles within financial services or retail banking environments is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in credit card portfolio analytics, customer lifecycle modelling or marketing optimisation is essential for success in this role.
  • Advanced proficiency in analytics techniques such as regression analysis, clustering methods, classification algorithms as well as hands-on experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning approaches is expected.
  • Proven ability to work with large datasets using SQL, Hive, Hadoop, Spark or Python; familiarity with cloud-based analytics environments is advantageous.
  • Solid grounding in statistical inference principles including experimental design, causal inference methodologies and time-series analysis is necessary.
  • Experience with fraud detection systems, credit risk assessment tools or payment success optimisation projects would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills are required to engage effectively with non-technical stakeholders across different business units.
  • Previous consulting experience or client-facing analytics roles would be an asset when translating technical findings into actionable business recommendations.
