Business Intelligence & Data Analyst (EMEA working hour)

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Intelligence and Data Analyst to join a forward-thinking organisation based in Kuala Lumpur, offering 100% remote working and the chance to support regional stakeholders. This role is perfect for those with 1–3 years of experience who are passionate about transforming data into actionable insights and eager to develop their skills in a truly international setting.

What you'll do:

As a Business Intelligence and Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in empowering the organisation’s decision-making capabilities by delivering insightful analyses and robust reporting solutions. Your day-to-day activities will involve designing interactive dashboards using industry-standard BI tools, conducting deep dives into datasets to uncover meaningful trends, and ensuring that all outputs meet rigorous standards for accuracy. You will work hand-in-hand with colleagues from different functions—translating their needs into practical data solutions—and respond swiftly to urgent requests for information. By taking ownership of data extraction, transformation, and visualisation tasks, you will help streamline processes while making complex findings understandable for all stakeholders. Success in this role means not only meeting immediate reporting needs but also proactively seeking ways to enhance how data is used across the business.

  • Develop comprehensive dashboards and detailed reports using leading business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau, ensuring stakeholders have access to clear and actionable information.
  • Perform thorough data analysis by identifying trends, patterns, and key insights that drive informed decision-making across various departments within the organisation.
  • Extract, clean, and transform large datasets from multiple sources including SQL databases, Excel spreadsheets, and internal systems to ensure high-quality data is available for reporting purposes.
  • Respond promptly to ad-hoc data requests from business users by providing accurate reports and tailored analyses that address specific operational or strategic questions.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand their unique requirements and translate these into effective data solutions that support organisational objectives.
  • Maintain the highest standards of data accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout all reporting processes by implementing robust quality checks and validation procedures.
  • Assist in streamlining existing data processes through automation initiatives, contributing to greater efficiency and reliability in regular reporting cycles.
  • Support ongoing improvements in reporting methodologies by researching best practices and recommending enhancements that align with evolving business needs.
  • Contribute to the development of data visualisation techniques that make complex information more accessible and engaging for non-technical audiences.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the analytics function.

What you bring:

To excel as a Business Intelligence and Data Analyst, you will bring hands-on experience gained through previous roles where you were responsible for analysing data sets, building reports, or supporting business intelligence initiatives. Your technical toolkit should include solid SQL skills for extracting information from databases alongside advanced Excel abilities for managing complex spreadsheets. Familiarity with BI platforms like Power BI or Tableau is essential as you’ll be expected to design user-friendly dashboards that inform strategic decisions. Beyond technical know-how, your success will depend on your ability to communicate insights clearly—bridging gaps between technical teams and business users—and your commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy. A background in IT or analytics-related studies will serve you well here. If you have additional exposure to data storytelling or have supported regional/global projects before, these experiences will further distinguish you as an ideal candidate.

  • Demonstrated experience of 1–3 years in roles focused on data analysis, business intelligence, or reporting within a commercial environment where attention to detail was paramount.
  • Proficiency with SQL for querying databases as well as strong skills in Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) for manipulating large datasets efficiently.
  • Hands-on experience using at least one major BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau to create visually compelling dashboards and reports tailored for diverse audiences.
  • A proven track record of applying analytical thinking to solve problems by interpreting complex datasets and presenting findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills enabling you to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different backgrounds while translating technical concepts into everyday language.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Analytics or a related discipline which provided foundational knowledge relevant to this field.
  • Exposure to data visualisation principles or storytelling techniques that help bring numbers to life for decision-makers is highly valued.
  • Willingness to work EMEA hours remotely from Malaysia as part of a distributed team supporting international operations.

What sets this company apart:

This organisation stands out by offering a truly flexible working arrangement—enabling you to work entirely remotely from anywhere within Malaysia while still being an integral part of an international team serving global markets. The company fosters an inclusive culture where collaboration is encouraged across all levels; your contributions are valued regardless of where you are based. Here, professional development is prioritised through regular training opportunities and knowledge-sharing sessions designed to keep your skills sharp in an ever-evolving field. You’ll benefit from exposure to regional projects that broaden your perspective while enjoying the support of knowledgeable colleagues who are committed to helping each other succeed. The emphasis on work-life balance ensures that you can thrive both professionally and personally as part of this dynamic community.

If you are ready to take the next step in your analytics career within a supportive remote environment—this is your chance!
