Assistant Logistic Manager (1 Yr Contract)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Logistics Manager to join a globally recognised organisation in Kuala Lumpur on a one-year contract. You will play a pivotal part in supporting Vision Care, Surgical, and Pharma divisions by managing third-party logistics providers, overseeing distributor relationships, and driving continuous improvements in logistics and planning processes.
What you'll do:
As an Assistant Logistics Manager based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be at the heart of the organisation’s supply chain operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve :
- Provide comprehensive supply chain support to internal departments such as warehouse teams and business units by coordinating customer order management and tracking incoming shipments.
- Monitor shipment status closely with both source and local forwarders to ensure timely delivery of goods to the warehouse while maintaining clear communication throughout the process.
- Ensure third-party logistics (3PL) and fourth-party logistics (4PL) providers complete goods receipt and saleable processes within established key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain strict compliance with company standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and all relevant regulatory requirements to uphold operational integrity.
- Oversee regular stock count cycles and reconciliation activities with 3PL and 4PL providers to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Proactively identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory items and communicate these insights to the commercial team for appropriate action planning.
- Process and track invoices related to freight forwarders, import/export brokers, and transportation service providers to ensure timely payments and financial accuracy.
- Manage customs clearance brokerage agencies by preparing necessary documentation and assisting with clearance processes as required.
- Prepare detailed reports with thorough analysis on logistics performance, inventory levels, shipment status, and other key metrics for management review.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve logistics operations by identifying inefficiencies, recommending solutions, and implementing best practices.
What you bring:
To excel as an Assistant Logistics Manager in this role, you will bring proven experience from previous positions within supply chain or logistics environments—ideally within multinational companies or those serving healthcare sectors.
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field is essential for this position.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required for effective reporting and analysis.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English as well as Bahasa Malaysia is necessary for clear communication with diverse stakeholders.
- A solid understanding of GDMPD requirements ensures compliance with industry regulations.
- At least five years of experience in supply chain management, logistics operations, planning or similar roles provides the foundation needed for success.
- Experience working with third-party (3PL) and fourth-party (4PL) logistics providers along with distributor management is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle as well as forecasting tools like JDA/Blue Yonder supports efficient workflow management.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with strong problem-solving abilities enable you to interpret complex data sets effectively.
- Outstanding communication skills facilitate smooth collaboration between internal teams such as sales/marketing and external partners like logistics providers.
- Attention to detail coupled with the ability to manage multiple priorities ensures high-quality outcomes even under tight deadlines.
