This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, values professional growth, and is eager to make a tangible impact on both local and international projects. With comprehensive training opportunities and clear pathways towards leadership roles such as Supply Chain Manager, this is your chance to progress your career within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation.

  • Be instrumental in establishing supplier development processes for a new manufacturing site, gaining hands-on experience in building systems from scratch while collaborating with global teams.
  • Enjoy high visibility within the organisation, working directly with engineering, project management, production, and quality departments to deliver critical projects for world-leading clients.
  • Benefit from strong career progression opportunities, including advancement towards leadership positions, all within an inclusive environment that values knowledge sharing and professional development.

What you'll do:

As a Procurement Engineer at this new manufacturing site in Kulim, you will be at the forefront of sourcing machining parts essential for complex projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close interaction with engineering teams to interpret technical drawings and ensure that procurement plans are fully synchronised with project objectives. You will take ownership of developing a dependable supplier base by identifying potential partners, assessing their capabilities through rigorous evaluation processes, and guiding them through onboarding procedures. By managing purchase orders from initiation through fulfilment, you will help maintain smooth supply chain operations while proactively addressing any challenges related to delivery or quality. Your expertise in cost analysis will enable you to negotiate favourable terms with suppliers while seeking opportunities for cost savings through innovative sourcing strategies or design improvements. In addition to monitoring supplier performance against agreed standards, you will play a crucial role in resolving any issues swiftly, ensuring that all materials meet stringent quality requirements. Through active participation in cross-functional meetings and collaboration on standardisation initiatives, you will contribute significantly to the success of both local projects and broader organisational goals.

  • Execute procurement activities for machining parts based on technical drawings and bills of materials, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgets.
  • Issue purchase orders efficiently and track order fulfilment to guarantee timely delivery of required components.
  • Identify and develop reliable machining suppliers specialising in CNC and fabrication by evaluating their technical capabilities, quality standards, and production capacity.
  • Support supplier onboarding processes and qualification assessments to build a robust network of partners.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to clarify technical requirements and participate in discussions regarding design for manufacturability and feasibility with suppliers.
  • Conduct thorough cost analyses of machining parts, negotiate pricing agreements, and drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing or design optimisation.
  • Monitor production progress of critical items, manage long lead-time components, and ensure material availability aligns with key project milestones.
  • Oversee supplier performance by tracking quality metrics, delivery timelines, responsiveness, and driving continuous improvement initiatives where necessary.
  • Coordinate resolution of any quality issues with suppliers by following up on corrective actions until closure and supporting urgent rework or replacement needs as they arise.
  • Work collaboratively across functions, including engineering, project management, production, and quality to support standardisation efforts, localisation strategies, and participate actively in review meetings.

What you bring:

To excel as a Procurement Engineer at this growing manufacturing hub in Kulim, you will bring proven experience managing the end-to-end procurement process for machining parts within an industrial setting. Your background should include not only technical expertise but also strong interpersonal skills that enable effective collaboration across multiple departments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented yet adaptable, capable of balancing strict adherence to technical specifications with the flexibility needed to respond quickly to changing project demands. Your ability to analyse costs critically will help drive value throughout the supply chain while your commitment to maintaining high-quality standards ensures consistent delivery of reliable components. A genuine enthusiasm for working within diverse teams, combined with clear communication skills will allow you to build lasting partnerships both internally and externally. If you are passionate about contributing positively within an inclusive environment that values ongoing learning and professional growth, this role offers an outstanding platform for your continued development.

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field provides the foundational knowledge required for this technically demanding role.
  • At least three years’ experience in procuring machining parts ensures familiarity with industry best practices and common challenges encountered during sourcing activities.
  • A solid understanding of machining processes such as CNC operations and fabrication techniques enables effective communication with suppliers about technical requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed technical drawings allows you to align procurement decisions precisely with engineering specifications.
  • Experience using procurement processes supported by ERP systems streamlines order management and enhances operational efficiency.
  • Excellent negotiation skills combined with clear communication abilities foster positive relationships with suppliers while securing competitive pricing agreements.
  • Fluency in English is essential for regional coordination; proficiency in Mandarin would be advantageous when liaising with certain suppliers or stakeholders.
