A leading manufacturing and production organisation in Perai is seeking a Buyer to join their dedicated procurement team.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to play a vital role in supporting the growth of filter products and ensuring seamless supply chain operations. You will be part of a supportive and knowledgeable team, working closely with senior buyers and cross-functional colleagues to manage quotations, purchase orders, and supplier relationships. The company values collaboration, dependability, and offers flexible working opportunities to help you balance your professional and personal commitments. If you are looking for a position where your attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and commitment to teamwork will be highly valued, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

  • Join a welcoming procurement team that values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mutual support across all levels of experience.
  • Enjoy flexible working opportunities designed to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance while contributing meaningfully to business growth.
  • Be empowered to make a real impact by supporting key supply chain initiatives, vendor relationships, and continuous improvement projects.

What you'll do:

As a Buyer based in Perai, you will play an integral role in ensuring the smooth operation of the procurement process from start to finish. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with both internal teams and external suppliers as you help manage quotations, purchase orders, and shipment tracking. You will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date records in Epicor, following up on deliveries, escalating issues when necessary, and resolving discrepancies alongside your colleagues. Success in this role comes from your ability to communicate clearly, stay organised under pressure, and work cooperatively within a team-oriented environment. Your contributions will directly support business growth initiatives while helping maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability throughout the supply chain.

  • Support the volume growth and increased demand for filters by assisting senior buyers with preparing quotations and processing purchase orders.
  • Contribute to parts localisation initiatives by researching potential suppliers and coordinating with engineering teams for necessary approvals.
  • Perform regular follow-ups with vendors to obtain firm commitments on shipment dates and ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Update purchase orders within the Epicor system with vendor-confirmed delivery dates to maintain accurate records and facilitate smooth operations.
  • Input tracking numbers into Epicor promptly so that all stakeholders have clear visibility over ongoing shipments at any time.
  • Escalate purchase orders or specific part numbers when there are delays or when changes such as pull-ins, push-outs, or cancellations are required.
  • Monitor shipments and transit times proactively to identify potential risks early and communicate these effectively within the team.
  • Follow up on Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) to ensure that goods are received accurately and posted in a timely manner within internal systems.
  • Work collaboratively with the Receiving team and other buyers to resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and GRNs, including issues related to pricing or quantity variances.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying areas where procurement processes can be enhanced for greater efficiency.

What you bring:

The ideal Buyer will bring proven experience from previous roles involving procurement or purchasing responsibilities, ideally within manufacturing or supply chain settings. Your ability to organise complex information efficiently ensures nothing falls through the cracks during busy periods. You thrive on building dependable relationships with both internal teams and external partners through clear communication rooted in empathy and respect. Familiarity with ERP systems like Epicor allows you to navigate digital workflows confidently while keeping everyone informed about order status updates. Your natural inclination towards teamwork means you enjoy sharing knowledge with others while supporting collective goals. When challenges arise such as delayed shipments or mismatched receipts, you respond thoughtfully by investigating root causes rather than assigning blame. Above all else, your dedication to accuracy helps uphold high standards across every aspect of the procurement process.

  • Demonstrated experience in procurement or purchasing roles within a manufacturing or supply chain environment is highly desirable for this position.
  • Excellent organisational skills that enable you to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail across all aspects of order processing.
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities that allow you to build positive relationships with vendors, colleagues, and cross-functional teams alike.
  • Proficiency in using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Epicor or similar platforms for managing purchase orders and tracking shipments is advantageous.
  • A collaborative approach that emphasises teamwork, knowledge sharing, and mutual support within a diverse group of professionals.
  • Problem-solving skills that empower you to address discrepancies or delays proactively while maintaining a calm and considerate demeanour.
  • A commitment to accuracy when updating records or handling documentation related to goods receipt notes (GRNs), pricing variances, or quantity differences.
  • Flexibility in adapting to changing priorities or urgent requests from senior buyers or other stakeholders involved in the procurement process.
  • An understanding of basic supply chain principles including vendor management, shipment tracking, and escalation procedures is beneficial for success in this role.
