What you'll do:
As a Sales Engineer, you will play an integral role in connecting with customers across Penang by offering expert advice on HVAC systems including air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), cooling towers, evaporators, condensers, and more. Your day-to-day activities will involve nurturing client relationships through thoughtful presentations, addressing technical queries with sensitivity, supervising retrofit projects on-site, verifying warranty claims accurately, and identifying new business opportunities. You will collaborate closely with consultants, main contractors, and key account customers to deliver tailored energy-saving solutions. Success in this role comes from your ability to communicate clearly in English, work effectively within a team-oriented environment, manage multiple priorities with empathy for client needs, and consistently promote sustainable practices.
- Engage with customers through detailed presentations and empathetic problem-solving, leveraging your technical expertise to exceed expectations at every interaction.
- Identify and generate new sales opportunities by developing both new and existing accounts, always striving to achieve company targets in a considerate manner.
- Carry out on-site verification of warranty claims and spot measurements for AHUs, FCUs, cooling towers, and related equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Supervise retrofit projects on-site with care and attention to detail, supporting clients throughout the process to ensure successful outcomes.
- Handle all customer queries on technical matters such as Modbus RTU and FanScout with patience and clarity, fostering trust and understanding.
- Implement effective sales strategies for retrofit solutions in your assigned area, always focusing on meeting set targets through collaboration.
- Monitor and track the sales process diligently to ensure timely closure of sales while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
- Establish close working relationships with consultants and main contractors for projects, building networks based on mutual respect and cooperation.
- Manage, service, and grow existing accounts with Key Account Customers by providing attentive support and tailored solutions.
- Market and promote energy-saving retrofitting solutions to prospective customers using AHU/CT/FCU/FFU/Nexaira Systems in an inclusive manner.
What you bring:
Your background required for being a sales engineer includes formal qualifications in engineering—mechanical, electrical or mechatronics—and ideally several years’ experience in industrial sales within sectors such as rotating equipment. Your excellent communication skills allow you to engage thoughtfully with both clients and colleagues. You bring a strong technical foundation that supports your ability to resolve complex issues compassionately. Your approach is collaborative; you thrive when sharing knowledge within teams or supporting others through challenges. You are known for being reliable under pressure—managing competing priorities without compromising quality or empathy. Experience handling specific technologies like Modbus RTU or FanScout will help you excel further. - Diploma or Degree in Engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics is required for this position.
- At least 2-3 years of field industrial sales experience is highly advantageous, especially if gained within the rotating equipment industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential for engaging with clients and colleagues alike.
- A sound technical foundation in electrical or mechanical engineering enables you to address complex queries confidently yet considerately.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others ensures quotes are completed accurately and submitted promptly to customers.
- Proven track record of being dependable when managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Experience in handling technical matters such as Modbus RTU or FanScout is beneficial for supporting clients’ needs effectively.
- A results-oriented approach combined with sound judgement allows you to define problems rationally while developing alternative solutions together with your team.
