Save job

A telecommunications provider in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Business Insights Lead for its Enterprise Division. This role drives business performance through data-driven strategies, commercial insights, and executive reporting. You will translate complex data into actionable recommendations, identify risks, and support strategic decision-making while partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful outcomes across the B2B landscape.

What you'll do:

As the Business Insights Lead within the Enterprise Division (Telecommunications), you will be responsible for driving impactful analysis that informs strategic direction. Your day-to-day activities will involve synthesising large volumes of business data into meaningful insights for senior management. You will monitor key metrics such as revenue trends, customer base movements, churn rates, renewals, ARPU changes, usage patterns, and pipeline developments. By conducting thorough diagnostics and root-cause analyses across various products and segments, you will help identify both risks and opportunities. Your ability to develop early warning indicators ensures proactive risk mitigation while your recommendations for recovery actions support continuous improvement. Collaboration is central to this role; you will work closely with Sales, Product Management, Business Planning, Commercial Excellence, and Data teams to ensure effective follow-through on action plans. Additionally, you will provide analytical support for strategic initiatives through ad-hoc deep dives into commercial performance areas. Success in this position requires not only technical proficiency but also strong communication skills to translate complex findings into clear executive narratives that drive accountability.

  • Analyse business performance across products, segments, channels, and sales teams to uncover trends and inform management decisions.
  • Monitor revenue streams, gross additions, churn rates, renewals, ARPU, usage patterns, and pipeline developments to identify business drivers and emerging risks.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and business diagnostics to support intervention strategies aimed at improving commercial outcomes.
  • Develop revenue bridges and variance analyses to track customer base movement and assess overall business health indicators.
  • Evaluate sales productivity, conversion trends, and performance efficiency to highlight upside opportunities and potential revenue leakage.
  • Create early warning indicators for issues such as churn risk, renewal expiry, declining ARPU, pipeline weakness, delayed activation, low conversion rates, high discount or low margin deals.
  • Translate complex analysis into actionable business insights and management recommendations that drive recovery plans and growth initiatives.
  • Support structured performance governance by highlighting key business risks during management reviews and facilitating intervention discussions.
  • Track action items with clear ownership and timelines while following through with Sales, Product, and other stakeholders on agreed plans.
  • Provide ad-hoc commercial analysis and cross-functional support for deep dives into products, segments, customer behaviour, and sales performance.

What you bring:

To excel as the Business Insights Lead – Enterprise Division (Telecommunications), you bring a wealth of proven experience in analytics or commercial analysis roles within B2B environments. Your academic background equips you with foundational knowledge in business principles while your industry experience allows you to navigate the complexities of telecommunications or subscription-driven sectors. You possess advanced analytical skills that enable you to dissect performance metrics such as revenue streams or customer base movements with precision. Your familiarity with dashboard reporting tools ensures efficient communication of findings while your ability to distil complex information into actionable recommendations sets you apart. Interpersonal strengths are crucial; you demonstrate empathy when engaging stakeholders across departments—ensuring alignment on action plans—and your executive storytelling skills foster trust among senior leaders. Your commitment to collaborative problem-solving drives successful outcomes even when navigating challenging scenarios involving risk escalation or recovery initiatives. Ultimately your combination of technical expertise and interpersonal sensitivity makes you an invaluable asset capable of supporting both strategic planning efforts and operational execution.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics or related discipline is required for this role.
  • 8–10 years of experience in analytics, business insights reporting or commercial analysis within telecommunications or subscription-driven industries is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated capability in analysing business drivers, identifying performance gaps as well as commercial risks using advanced analytical techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial KPIs including revenue streams, gross additions (GA), churn rates, renewals processes, ARPU calculations, pipeline analytics and customer base dynamics.
  • Proficiency with dashboard reporting tools as well as familiarity with business intelligence environments is essential for success.
  • Ability to simplify complex analyses into actionable insights that can be translated into measurable management actions or risk indicators.
  • Strong commercial acumen coupled with an understanding of how data impacts broader business strategy within a B2B context.
  • Excellent communication skills including stakeholder management abilities and executive storytelling proficiency are vital for engaging senior leadership.
  • Ownership mindset with structured thinking capabilities enabling effective cross-functional collaboration on recovery initiatives or action tracking.
  • Experience supporting management decision-making through structured analysis combined with risk diagnostics is considered advantageous.
