What you'll do:
As a Sales Executive – Medical and Over-the-Counter Products based in Perak, you will play an integral role in driving the success of a diverse product portfolio across multiple channels. Your day-to-day activities will involve engaging directly with healthcare professionals—ranging from hospital specialists to pharmacy staff—to promote products through detailed presentations and training sessions. You will be responsible for identifying new business prospects while nurturing long-term partnerships with existing clients. By leveraging your understanding of local market dynamics and utilising digital tools for data analysis, you will develop targeted action plans that maximise sales performance. Your ability to negotiate prime shelf placements and execute creative merchandising strategies will further enhance brand visibility. Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to reporting requirements, adaptability to changing business strategies, and a genuine passion for improving patient outcomes through trusted healthcare solutions.
- Promote and detail a wide range of medical and OTC products to specialists, doctors in both government and private hospitals, general practitioners, independent pharmacies, chain pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals as specified by business objectives.
- Achieve or exceed individual monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets within your assigned territory by implementing effective sales strategies tailored to local market needs.
- Cultivate new customer relationships while expanding existing accounts to increase market share for key brands within your area of responsibility.
- Execute business plans and marketing programmes by conducting product knowledge sessions and sales training for doctors, nurses, pharmacists, their staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Negotiate optimal shelf space for leading brands in retail environments, arrange impactful window and in-store displays, and ensure merchandising materials are effectively placed and maintained.
- Develop deep expertise in product features and benefits as well as competitor offerings to provide informed recommendations that support customer decision-making.
- Analyse sales data using digital tools such as OCE systems to identify new business opportunities and inform action plans that drive growth.
- Assess customer value biannually using established criteria; plan call patterns and outstation trips according to management expectations while prospecting for new business opportunities.
- Complete all required weekly or monthly reports accurately and on time—including expenses—and maintain comprehensive electronic records for each customer within your territory database.
- Collaborate closely with team members by participating in trade shows, public forums, weekend events when necessary, as well as attending regular sales meetings and conferences.
What you bring:
To excel as a Sales Executive – Medical and Over-the-Counter Products in this organisation’s Perak territory, you will bring a blend of technical knowledge from relevant tertiary education alongside practical experience gained within pharmaceutical or healthcare environments. Your interpersonal skills will be crucial when building trust-based relationships with doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and other stakeholders who rely on accurate information about product efficacy. You should feel comfortable presenting complex information clearly during training sessions or one-on-one meetings while adapting your approach based on audience needs. Analytical thinking is vital when reviewing sales trends or planning outreach activities; proficiency with digital tools ensures efficiency throughout these processes. A collaborative mindset enables seamless teamwork during events or cross-departmental projects. Above all else, your enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and your sensitivity towards customer needs will set you apart as someone who genuinely contributes positively both internally among colleagues and externally within the broader community.
- Tertiary qualifications in science, pharmacy, nursing or a related field are highly regarded for this position due to the technical nature of the products involved.
- Demonstrated basic selling skills that enable you to effectively communicate product benefits to diverse audiences within the healthcare sector.
- Proficiency in negotiation techniques that help secure advantageous shelf space or promotional opportunities for key brands within retail settings.
- Strong presentation abilities suitable for delivering educational sessions such as Continuing Medical Education (CME) or Continuing Professional Education (CPE) workshops.
- Competence in written communication for preparing clear reports, correspondence with customers, and internal documentation required by management.
- Analytical skills that allow you to interpret sales data from various sources—including digital platforms like OCE systems to inform strategic decisions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is essential for managing reports, analysing data sets, creating presentations, and maintaining accurate records.
- Experience working within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, ideally at least two years, is considered an advantage but not mandatory if you possess strong interpersonal abilities.
- Previous experience interacting with health professionals across retail pharmacy settings as well as private or government hospitals is highly desirable for building rapport quickly.
- A proven track record of achieving past sales goals demonstrates your commitment to meeting targets; however, candidates with less experience but outstanding potential are also encouraged.
