Trade Marketing Manager (FMCG)

What you'll do:
As Trade Marketing Manager (FMCG), you will play a central role in driving sustainable sales growth through strategic planning and execution across Malaysia’s mini market channels. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with Customer Development and Marketing teams to develop actionable plans based on shopper insights and category analysis. You will lead commercial business planning cycles, participate in budget reviews, design go-to-market strategies that optimise pricing, promotions, distribution coverage, assortment strategy, and placement. By monitoring competitor activity and benchmarking in-store share of voice, you will ensure the company maintains its competitive position. Your ability to establish objectives, track performance metrics, review campaign effectiveness, define product assortment strategies, and lead category development initiatives will be crucial for success. Working closely with cross-functional teams ensures seamless integration of commercial goals with retail execution.
- Develop comprehensive retail enviroEastnment strategies by analysing shopper insights and category trends to identify growth opportunities within Malaysia’s mini market channels.
- Drive execution of a three-year retail environment plan in close partnership with Customer Development and Marketing teams, ensuring incremental sales growth is achieved.
- Monitor competitor dynamics closely and implement robust 5P plans that effectively address market challenges while halting competition.
- Lead discussions during Commercial Business Planning Cycles and actively participate in Budget Reviews by integrating category, brand, retail environment, and shopper strategies into sustainable growth plans.
- Design go-to-market strategies that include pricing and promotion flows, optimising distribution coverage, determining product assortment strategy, and placement within respective retail environments.
- Establish clear objectives for retail campaigns and ensure tracking mechanisms are implemented to monitor performance against targets.
- Benchmark competitors’ in-store strategies while tracking the company’s share of voice and activities to maintain a competitive edge.
- Regularly review and modify retail environment plans to ensure cost-effective consumption off the shelf while achieving brand objectives.
- Define product assortment and placement strategies within the retail environment, leading category development initiatives with customers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between commercial goals and retail execution.

- Minimum a Degree or Master’s Degree in Business Management or Marketing Management is required for this role.
- At least eight years of proven experience in Retail Marketing or Trade Marketing within the Fast Moving Consumer Goods sector is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute successful retail campaigns that deliver measurable results.
- Exceptional leadership skills combined with a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills that enable effective communication with internal stakeholders as well as external partners.
- Analytical mindset capable of interpreting shopper insights and category data to inform strategic decisions.
- Experience in developing go-to-market strategies including pricing optimisation, promotion flow management, distribution coverage enhancement, assortment determination, and placement strategy implementation.
- Ability to monitor competitor dynamics closely while benchmarking share of voice/activities within stores.
- Proven track record of establishing objectives for campaigns along with implementing robust tracking mechanisms to measure performance.
- Expertise in defining product assortment strategies within retail environments while leading category development initiatives.
