The challenge

Our client faced significant challenges managing their broad hiring needs across the UK and Ireland. They struggled with efficiently sourcing and managing contingent workers, with roles ranging from IT developers and lawyers to receptionists. This was made more challenging with fluctuating demand and specific skill requirements, and a creeping dependence on multiple agencies and manual processes, leading to slow recruitment times and higher costs. 

Setting up the partnership

Robert Walters adopted a multi-faceted approach to tackling our client’s talent acquisition challenges. With an eye on their specific needs and the nature of their fluctuating hiring demand, we shifted from agency reliance to a direct sourcing model, while implementing tech solutions like Fieldglass and ServiceNow to streamline recruitment and onboarding processes. Regular communication with our stakeholders ensured alignment and proactive engagement, creating a future-proof solution that anticipated and prepared for their future recruitment needs.

The solution

Robert Walters designed a bespoke MSP solution comprising contingent worker and vendor management, direct sourcing, background verification, interview scheduling, onboarding and referral initiatives. These processes were also enhanced with best-in-class tech integrations and the optimisation of the supply chain through the reduction of suppliers and negotiating tenure discounts.

Key results

Our strategic interventions led to a direct fill rate increase to 64% and an 80% reduction of agency fill, leading to c. £58k cost savings within a six-month period. Implementing the ServiceNow ticketing system reduced the backlog of vendor-related queries, ensuring timely responses and resolutions, while our Fieldglass and Sterling integrations continue to facilitate effective focus on getting the right candidates in front of hiring managers.
