What you'll do:

As a Product Manager (Tape and Reel) based in Penang, you will be entrusted with driving the strategic direction of an extensive product portfolio within the electronics component packaging industry. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet evolving market demands while maintaining profitability. You will regularly interact with key customers to understand their unique challenges and aspirations, translating these insights into actionable strategies that strengthen partnerships. • Develop comprehensive product portfolio strategies that are closely aligned with current market trends and the organisation’s long-term growth targets, ensuring products remain competitive and relevant.
• Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify unique differentiation opportunities that set products apart in the marketplace.
• Manage all aspects of product pricing strategy, including monitoring margin performance and overseeing price-cost management to maximise profitability.
• Create detailed business cases to support new project initiatives and customer development efforts, providing clear justifications for investment decisions.
• Engage proactively with key customers to gain deep insights into their business needs, pain points, and future growth opportunities, ensuring solutions are tailored effectively.
• Build strong rapport with major clients by fostering trust-based relationships that enhance loyalty and encourage ongoing partnership.
• Monitor critical performance metrics such as revenue growth, new project development progress, and overall product success in the market.
• Synchronise activities between internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of products and services that exceed customer expectations.
• Collaborate across functions—including sales, engineering, marketing, and operations—to deliver integrated solutions that address complex client requirements.

What you bring:

To excel as a Product Manager (Tape and Reel) in this organisation, you will bring substantial experience from the electronics component packaging industry—ideally having worked extensively on tape & reel systems used in semiconductor backend testing environments. Your educational background equips you with the theoretical foundation needed for strategic thinking while your hands-on experience ensures practical application. You possess a keen commercial sense which enables you to develop robust pricing models and manage profit margins effectively. Your natural ability to connect with people allows you to build enduring relationships based on trust—an essential quality when working closely with key customers. In addition to your technical know-how, your strong interpersonal skills enable you to communicate complex ideas clearly across diverse audiences. You have successfully managed cross-functional projects before, demonstrating reliability when coordinating between different teams. • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Marketing or an equivalent field is required for this position.
• A minimum of five years’ experience in Product Management, Business Development or Technical Sales within the electronic component packaging sector is essential.
• Hands-on experience with tape & reel packaging systems specifically for semiconductor backend testing is mandatory for this role.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen with proven expertise in developing pricing strategies, managing margins, and conducting successful negotiations is highly valued.
• A track record of building rapport with clients by establishing trust-based relationships that lead to enhanced customer loyalty is important.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities combined with strong communication skills are necessary for effective engagement in customer-facing situations.
• Experience managing cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders across different departments is required.
• Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in Excel are expected; familiarity with Power BI would be considered an added advantage.
• Regional travel experience is necessary as part of this role involves engaging with clients across various locations.
• Knowledge of carrier tape design compliant with EIA 483 standards would be beneficial but not essential.
