Senior Manager ( Litigation )
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced legal professional to join a leading PLC as Senior Manager (Litigation) . What you'll do:
Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you developing robust strategies for dispute resolution while acting as a trusted advisor to senior management on risk exposure.
- Provide strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight for all litigation and dispute matters involving contractors, consultants, purchasers, vendors, joint venture partners, regulatory bodies, and authorities.
- Act as the primary liaison with external solicitors and legal advisors to ensure cost-effective engagement, high-quality representation, and alignment with organisational litigation strategies.
- Formulate and execute effective dispute resolution strategies through court proceedings, arbitration, adjudication, tribunals, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Represent the organisation at court hearings, trials, tribunals, and adjudication proceedings when required to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Oversee the assessment and management of claims by providing clear recommendations to senior management regarding risk exposure, settlement options, and overall litigation strategy.
- Deliver proactive legal advice on potential litigation risks arising from contracts, projects, joint ventures, sales operations, and other business activities to support sound decision-making.
- Review, draft, and advise on contractual terms as well as risk-mitigation clauses in agreements with various stakeholders including contractors, consultants, suppliers, purchasers, and business partners.
- Establish systems and reporting mechanisms to track litigation trends, recurring risk areas, exposure levels, and case performance for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, property development regulations, guidelines, and statutory requirements relevant to the organisation’s operations.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams such as Project Management, Contracts, Finance, Sales & Marketing, Customer Care, Operations as well as liaising with government authorities and industry bodies.
What you bring:
You will bring extensive experience managing complex disputes within property development or related industries.
- Professional Degree in Law is essential while a Master’s Degree or related qualification would be considered an added advantage for this role.
- A minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in litigation or dispute resolution within corporate legal affairs—preferably gained in property development or real estate sectors—is required.
- At least 5 years’ proven experience in managerial or leadership roles handling complex high-value disputes is necessary to excel in this position.
- Comprehensive knowledge of civil law procedures as well as commercial law principles including court processes and tribunal protocols is expected.
- Demonstrated ability to strategically manage large litigation portfolios alongside external counsel is vital for success.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with advocacy abilities are needed along with strong negotiation techniques for effective dispute resolution outcomes.
- Outstanding communication skills are required to provide clear recommendations to senior management while building rapport across internal teams.
- Leadership capabilities should include experience mentoring junior lawyers or legal professionals within a collaborative team environment.
- Commercial acumen is important so you can balance legal risks against broader business priorities when advising stakeholders.
- High standards of integrity coupled with professionalism sound judgment are essential qualities sought after for this senior appointment.
