We are seeking an experienced Manager/Senior Manager, Legal & Compliance to lead the organization's legal, regulatory compliance, AML/CFT, and data protection functions. This role serves as a trusted advisor to management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting business growth through proactive risk management and governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory compliance advisory to business units, identifying risks and recommending appropriate controls.
• Monitor and interpret regulatory developments, ensuring timely implementation of legal, compliance, and policy requirements.
• Review and advise on contracts, policies, SOPs, and business practices to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
• Lead AML/CFT/KYC compliance activities, including suspicious transaction reviews and regulatory reporting.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulators, government agencies, external legal counsel, and other key stakeholders.
• Support investigations involving misconduct, customer complaints, whistleblowing cases, and regulatory inquiries.
• Manage litigation, tribunal matters, and engagement with external legal counsel.
• Serve as the organization's Data Protection Officer (DPO), overseeing data privacy compliance, breach management, and regulatory reporting.
• Drive compliance awareness through training, communications, and initiatives that foster a strong compliance culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business, Management, or a related discipline.
• Min. 8-12 years' experience in legal, regulatory compliance, or governance roles.
• Experience in banking, insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of BNM regulations, AML/CFT, KYC controls, compliance monitoring, and regulatory reporting.
• Familiarity with the Consumer Credit Act and Hire-Purchase (Amendment) Act.
• Proven experience managing regulatory engagements and external legal counsel.
• Strong stakeholder management, analytical, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically to regional offices for compliance reviews.
