Partner, Corporate M&A
We are looking for an ambitious and technically strong Corporate M&A Salaried Partner to join our growing corporate practice. This is an opportunity for a seasoned corporate lawyer who enjoys running transactions, mentoring junior lawyers, and building a long-term platform for practice growth. You will work closely with the firm's leadership to expand the corporate practice, develop the next generation of lawyers, and play a meaningful role in future succession planning.
The Role
You will lead complex corporate and commercial matters from start to finish, supported by a dedicated team of junior lawyers.
Your work will include:
- Leading M&A transactions, including due diligence, structuring, drafting, negotiations, signing and completion.
- Advising on startup, venture capital and private fundraising transactions (Seed to Series B/C), acting for founders, investors and funds.
- Handling joint ventures, corporate restructurings, share swaps, capital reductions and other strategic transactions.
- Advising clients on a broad range of commercial agreements, including technology, licensing, franchise, distribution and services arrangements.
- Providing practical advice on corporate governance, data protection, anti-corruption and competition law matters.
- Supervising, mentoring and developing junior lawyers and pupils.
- Contributing to thought leadership, business development initiatives, client relationship management and the firm's market profile.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 7 years PQE in private practice.
- Admitted to practise in Malaysia.
- Strong corporate and commercial law background, with significant experience in:
- M&A
- Venture capital/private fundraising transactions
- Joint ventures
- Corporate restructurings
- Proven ability to independently manage transactions from inception to completion.
- Strong drafting, negotiation and client management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop junior lawyers.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Comfortable using legal technology and AI tools in practice.
Ideal Attributes
- Trained within a corporate-focused practice.
- Experience in boutique or mid-sized firms.
- Hands-on approach with strong understanding of transaction execution and practice management.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in client development and business growth.
- Collaborative leader who enjoys building teams rather than working as a solo practitioner.
- Mandarin proficiency and/or real estate transactional experience are advantages but not essential.
Why Join Us
This role offers more than a partnership title. It offers a genuine opportunity to help build a leading corporate practice.
Our long-term vision is to develop a team of multiple equity partners, each supported by dedicated associates and empowered to grow their own practice. You'll be given the autonomy, platform and support to build your reputation, strengthen client relationships, and progress towards equity partnership.
If you're ready to move beyond simply servicing transactions and want to help build a lasting practice, we'd love to hear from you.
Do note that we will only be in touch if your application is shortlisted.
