Legal Counsel

Seeking a Legal Counsel to provide regional legal support for a Tires business across Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea. The role involves advising on commercial, corporate, regulatory, and dispute matters; managing legal risks; drafting and negotiating agreements; supporting business initiatives; and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to the Tires sector across Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea;
• Identify, assess, and manage legal and commercial risks affecting business operations;
• Monitor changes in applicable laws and regulations, and advise stakeholders on the potential business impact and required actions;
• Develop and implement practical legal solutions to mitigate legal and regulatory risks;
• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documentation;
• Support cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders across various legal disciplines;
• Advise and assist stakeholders in the management of disputes, claims, and litigation, including engagement with external counsel where required;
• Communicate and negotiate with customers, suppliers, government authorities, and other external parties on legal matters;
• Coordinate with external law firms and collaborate closely with internal functions across the Continental Group;
• Utilise contract management and approval systems to ensure effective documentation and governance;
• Conduct legal training sessions and workshops to promote legal awareness and compliance within the business;
• Maintain accurate records of legal matters within the applicable legal management systems and prepare reports when required; and
• Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and compliance with Continental's internal policies and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent recognised law degree;
• Qualified to practise law in Malaysia;
• Minimum three (3) years post-qualification experience in private practice or as an in-house
• legal counsel;
• Experience in the automotive, manufacturing, or industrial sector would be an advantage;
• Strong commercial drafting, contract negotiation, and legal advisory skills;
• Sound understanding of corporate and commercial legal principles with strong risk management capabilities;
• Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working effectively with cross functional and regional stakeholders;
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; and
• High level of professionalism, integrity, sound judgement, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
