Senior Legal Counsel (Mandarin Speaker)

With a footprint spanning 15 markets, one of Asia’s leading luxury beauty distributor is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to be a strategic partner to join their business, safeguarding brands while enabling growth with speed and precision.

The Role

This is not your typical legal role. You will operate at the intersection of commerce, creativity, and compliance, partnering closely with commercial, digital, and retail teams across diverse markets.

As a trusted advisor, you will drive legal excellence across 15 jurisdictions, balancing risk with opportunity in a fast-paced, brand-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Regional Legal Partnering: Provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice to stakeholders across 15 APAC markets
• Contract Excellence: Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including distribution, retail, e-commerce, marketing, and vendor contracts
• Mandarin-Language Contracts: Review and negotiate contracts in Mandarin (highly advantageous)
• Risk & Compliance: Manage legal risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and support governance initiatives across markets
• Strategic Advisory: Act as a go-to counsel for senior stakeholders on commercial strategy, expansion, and partnerships
• Dispute Management: Handle disputes and liaise with external counsel where required
• Continuous Improvement: Enhance contract processes, templates, and legal operations for efficiency and scalability

What We’re Looking For

• 4–8 years’ PQE (private practice and/or in-house experience)
• Strong experience in commercial contracts and cross-border advisory
• Proven ability to operate in a multi-jurisdictional, fast-paced environment
• Mandarin proficiency (written and verbal) is mandatory
• A commercially astute mindset - you think like a business partner, not just a lawyer
• Strong stakeholder management with the ability to influence across cultures and seniority levels
• Experience in FMCG, retail, luxury, or consumer industries is highly desirable
