What you'll do:
As the People and Culture Specialist based in Bangsar South Kuala Lumpur you will assume a pivotal role in advancing comprehensive human resources operations for Malaysia and Singapore. Your daily responsibilities will encompass advising managers on intricate employee relations matters whilst ensuring rigorous adherence to local employment legislation. You will supervise payroll processes with meticulous attention to detail guaranteeing statutory compliance across multiple jurisdictions. In addition to managing HR administration tasks such as onboarding/offboarding procedures and benefits management you will design impactful employee engagement initiatives that foster retention. You will conduct regular pulse surveys analyse engagement metrics support diversity equity inclusion (DEI) efforts lead performance review cycles coach managers on feedback documentation facilitate progressive conversations oversee recruitment processes build talent pipelines coordinate learning development programmes manage vendor relationships evaluate training effectiveness support leadership development succession planning maintain updated HR policies SOPs communicate changes effectively assist with internal external audits drive process improvements interact regularly with country leadership teams function managers local employees regional global colleagues external vendors government bodies candidates agencies—all whilst operating in a multi-country matrixed environment.
- Act as a trusted advisor to managers regarding employee relations, performance concerns, organisational transitions, and workforce planning across Malaysia and Singapore.
- Provide prudent counsel on personnel matters whilst ensuring compliance with company policies, local labour regulations, and recognised best practices.
- Manage confidential information with utmost discretion and professionalism whilst fostering a harmonious workplace culture.
- Supervise end-to-end payroll processes for accuracy, punctuality, and adherence to statutory requirements including CPF, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB.
- Maintain and audit HRIS/employee records ensuring data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance at all times.
- Administer HR administration including employment contracts, onboarding/offboarding procedures, benefits management, and leave tracking.
- Design and implement employee engagement initiatives such as communication plans and recognition programmes to enhance retention.
- Conduct pulse surveys and action planning; monitor engagement metrics and follow through on improvements supporting diversity equity inclusion (DEI) and well-being initiatives.
- Lead the performance review cycle including goal-setting sessions, mid-year reviews, calibration meetings, and development planning activities.
- Oversee the recruitment lifecycle for assigned roles from requisitioning through sourcing, interviewing, assessments, offer management, talent pipeline building, and employer branding.

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related discipline is required for this appointment.
- 5–8 years of progressive experience as an HR generalist or HR business partner encompassing payroll administration employee engagement performance management recruitment learning & development.
- Exceptional advisory skills evidenced by proven experience counselling managers on employee relations performance issues organisational change workforce planning.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Malaysian Singaporean employment legislation payroll compliance HR operational best practices is essential for success in this capacity.
- Outstanding stakeholder management communication influencing skills across all levels facilitating effective collaboration within diverse teams.
