Head of Rewards & Ops

The Head of Rewards is responsible for the stewardship, refinement and governance to the Group’s Total Rewards frameworks and policies. Reporting directly to the Head of HR, the role provides leadership across performance management, compensation & benefits and rewards analytics. The role focuses on ensuring continued relevance, clarity and consistent application of reward practices across the operating companies particularly in response to market developments, regulatory changes and evolving business needs. Acting as the Group’s subject matter expert, the Head or Rewards partners closely with HR and business stakeholders to support sound decision making, effective implementation and strong governance outcomes. In addition, the role acts as a HR Business Partner to a designated holding company including participation in Board discussions and preparation of Board materials, where required.

Key Accountabilities

Total Rewards Strategy & Governance

  • Review and refine the Group Total Rewards strategy, philosophy and policies to ensure alignment with business needs, financial parameters and external market conditions.
  • Monitor external market, regulatory and workforce trends to assess implications for Group rewards policies and provide structured analysis and recommendations to the Head of HR and senior management.
  • Act as the primary Group reference point for the interpretation of Total Rewards policies, advising the operating companies HR teams on appropriate application and escalation of non standard cases.

Performance Management

  • Enhance and clarify Group performance management frameworks to ensure consistent understanding and application across the Group
  • Guide and coordinate the annual performance cycle across the Group to deliver fair, disciplined and comparable performance outcomes.
  • Advise on the application of performance outcomes to reward decisions including merit increases and variable pay ensuring alignment to Group principles and financial parameters
  • Partner with IR/ER and Legal team to provide input on performance related cases.

Compensation Management

  • Steward the Group compensation architecture, including job evaluation, job grading, and salary structures.
  • Coordinate and support annual salary reviews and incentive planning processes, working closely with Finance to ensure alignment with approved budgets and governance requirements.
  • Conduct and interpret market benchmarking and internal equity analyses to support informed and consistent compensation decision across the Group.
  • Review and provide recommendations on compensation exceptions or non-standard proposals in line with Group guidelines and approval thresholds.

Benefits & Wellbeing

  • Refine the Group benefits and wellbeing framework ensuring that continued competitiveness, cost effectiveness and relevance to workforce needs.
  • Lead benefits benchmarking exercises, vendor reviews and optimisation benefits
  • Guide operating companies on the application and communication of benefits programmes.

Analytics, Insights & Market Intelligence

  • Apply rewards analytics and insights to support evidence based decision making, including analysis of cost trends, pay equity, incentive effectiveness and market positioning
  • Govern participation in market surveys and ensure consistent methodology and application of benchmarking data across the Group
  • Prepare clear well structured analyses, reports and presentations for the Head of HR to support policy review, decision making and governance oversight,

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong partnerships with senior leaders, HR business partners and operating companies HR team to support adoption and consistent application of Group Reward framework
  • Act as a HR business partner to a designated holding company including participation in Board discussions and preparation of Board materials, where required.
  • Act as a coordination and escalation point for reward related matters exercising sound judgement and escalating appropriately where required
  • Uphold high standards of confidentiality, professionalism and data integrity in handling sensitive employee and organisational information.

Job Requirements

Experience working in Group, regional or holding company environment with exposure to policy stewardship, governance and cross entity coordination

Highly proficient in market benchmarking, job architecture and salary surveys with hands on experience in using providers such as WTW, Mercer or equivalent

Highly analytical with the ability to translate data into clear and practical insights

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence, advise and collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders

High level of discretion and professionalism in managing confidential and sensitive information
