Medical Sales Executive (Johor)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Sales Executive to join a respected and forward-thinking organisation in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building meaningful connections with pharmacy professionals and is passionate about supporting the growth of pharmaceutical brands across retail channels.
What you'll do:
As a Medical Sales Executive based in Johor Bahru, you will immerse yourself in the dynamic world of pharmaceutical sales across retail pharmacy channels. Your day-to-day activities will revolve around engaging with pharmacists—both independent operators and those within larger chains—to promote an array of pharmaceutical products. You will be responsible for developing robust territory plans that ensure optimal customer coverage while maintaining meticulous records of your interactions. By offering insightful product knowledge sessions and supporting pharmacy staff through training initiatives, you will empower them to confidently recommend products. Your keen attention to detail will help you monitor stock levels closely at each outlet while staying alert to competitor movements in the marketplace. Through proactive communication with healthcare professionals and participation in targeted campaigns like GSA or BLITZ, you will contribute significantly to increasing brand awareness. Success in this role hinges on your ability to foster trust-based relationships with customers, execute marketing strategies seamlessly at the ground level, and provide valuable feedback that shapes future business direction.
- Achieve defined sales targets within your assigned retail pharmacy territory through effective planning, customer engagement, and diligent follow-up.
- Develop comprehensive territory plans that include call scheduling, customer coverage strategies, and prioritisation of key accounts to maximise results.
- Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, market feedback, and customer interactions to support business decision-making and performance tracking.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with both independent pharmacists and pharmacy chains by providing exceptional service and tailored product information.
- Promote pharmaceutical products by delivering detailed presentations to pharmacists, highlighting benefits, usage guidelines, and supporting materials to drive recommendations.
- Offer product knowledge sessions and training support to pharmacy staff to ensure they are well-equipped to represent the brand effectively.
- Engage proactively with healthcare professionals by sharing updates on new products, therapeutic areas, and participating in initiatives such as GSA and BLITZ campaigns.
- Monitor outlet stock levels consistently to prevent out-of-stock situations while keeping abreast of competitor activities including promotions, pricing strategies, and marketing campaigns.
- Ensure flawless execution of marketing initiatives at the outlet level by managing product displays, promotional materials, and enhancing overall product visibility.
- Provide timely market intelligence back to the company regarding competitor actions, customer responses, and emerging trends to inform strategic decisions.
What you bring:
To excel as a Medical Sales Executive, you will bring not only relevant academic qualifications but also hands-on experience from previous roles where meeting targets was second nature. Your background may include time spent working directly with customers in retail or healthcare settings where building rapport was crucial. You possess outstanding communication skills that enable you to convey complex information clearly while adapting your approach based on audience needs. Analytical thinking comes naturally to you—you can quickly interpret market data or feedback from clients into actionable insights that benefit both parties. Your negotiation style is considerate yet persuasive; you strive for solutions that satisfy everyone involved. Flexibility is one of your hallmarks: whether it’s adjusting travel plans or responding swiftly to changes in market conditions, you remain composed under pressure. Above all else, your genuine interest in helping others succeed—be it pharmacy staff or patients—sets you apart as someone who thrives in collaborative environments focused on shared goals.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline is required; holding a degree in Science, Pharmacy or a related field is highly advantageous for understanding pharmaceutical products.
- At least two years’ experience in sales roles—preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector—demonstrating consistent achievement of targets.
- Proven track record of managing customer relationships effectively within an assigned territory while delivering excellent service.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken), enabling clear communication with both customers and internal teams.
- Previous exposure to retail environments is beneficial, especially if gained through customer-facing or sales positions.
- Solid grasp of sales processes including customer engagement techniques and territory management best practices.
- Strong analytical abilities paired with problem-solving skills that allow you to assess customer needs accurately and identify new business opportunities.
- Basic familiarity with pharmaceutical products as well as general practices within the healthcare industry is considered an asset.
- Exceptional negotiation skills combined with influencing abilities that help drive positive outcomes for both customers and the business.
- Adaptability coupled with resilience enables you to perform well amidst changing priorities; willingness to travel frequently within your designated area is essential.
