Save job

A leading global pharmaceutical organisation is seeking a Medical Advisor in Oncology to join their Kuala Lumpur team. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to leverage your scientific expertise and passion for medical engagement within a company that is dedicated to transforming patient outcomes through science-led, patient-focused innovation.

What you'll do:

As a Medical Advisor Oncology, you will be at the forefront of shaping how cutting-edge therapies reach patients by collaborating closely with both internal stakeholders and external experts. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve engaging with key opinion leaders to foster trust-based relationships that facilitate scientific exchange. You will be responsible for translating complex clinical data into actionable insights for healthcare professionals while supporting the development of local medical strategies that align with broader organisational goals. By providing critical input into product launches well ahead of time, you will help ensure that new treatments are introduced effectively into the market. Additionally, your expertise will guide the creation of educational content for major events and ensure all communications adhere to regulatory standards. Your ability to connect scientific knowledge with practical application will be essential as you support clinical operations and uphold rigorous compliance standards throughout every aspect of your work.

  • Build, enhance, and maintain meaningful engagement with key scientific leaders (KOLs) in the oncology field by fostering open communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and disseminate emerging clinical data to healthcare professionals (HCPs), ensuring all information is presented in a balanced, objective, and scientifically robust manner.
  • Translate study results into clinical value for the medical community by integrating findings into business strategies that support improved patient outcomes.
  • Provide internal partners with up-to-date insights on medical trends, clinical practices, and competitive intelligence to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Design and implement local medical plans that address unmet needs in priority disease areas while ensuring alignment with broader brand objectives.
  • Strategise and execute pre-launch medical activities for new products at least two years prior to launch, addressing key clinical and scientific challenges proactively.
  • Offer expert medical input into the lifecycle management of priority brands and therapeutic areas to maximise their impact throughout their market presence.
  • Lead faculty development and content creation for national congresses, advisory boards, scientific exchange meetings, publications, and continuing medical education (CME) programmes based on identified needs.
  • Contribute medical expertise to the creation and approval of promotional materials, ensuring compliance with internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) and international codes of practice such as IFPMA.
  • Support clinical teams in selecting appropriate investigators and sites for studies to optimise quality delivery while maximising commercial benefit.

What you bring:

To excel as a Medical Advisor Oncology, you will bring not only advanced academic qualifications but also substantial hands-on experience within Medical Affairs or related roles in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector. Your proven ability to nurture collaborative partnerships—both internally among cross-functional teams and externally with key opinion leaders—will be vital as you navigate complex stakeholder environments. You should possess deep familiarity with evolving technical landscapes in oncology along with regulatory frameworks governing product development and promotion. Your communication style should reflect clarity and empathy when translating intricate scientific concepts into accessible messages tailored for diverse audiences. Experience designing impactful local medical plans or supporting successful product launches will further distinguish your candidacy. Above all else, your dedication to ethical practice ensures that every action taken aligns with best-in-class standards for patient safety and organisational integrity.

  • A strong educational background in science is required, ideally holding a PhD or Medical Doctor qualification from a top university or being a qualified doctor with relevant credentials.
  • Proven experience working within Medical Affairs functions in either the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is essential for success in this role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build lasting relationships with partners across diverse backgrounds by employing excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current technical advancements as well as regulatory developments impacting oncology therapeutics.
  • Exceptional communication skills enabling you to present complex scientific data clearly to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing local medical plans that address unmet needs while aligning with overarching brand strategies is highly desirable.
  • A track record of contributing medical expertise during product launches or lifecycle management initiatives within priority therapeutic areas would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with creating educational content for congresses, advisory boards, or CME programmes based on identified gaps in knowledge among healthcare professionals is preferred.
  • Ability to provide guidance on promotional material development while ensuring strict adherence to SOPs and international codes such as IFPMA is important.
  • Commitment to upholding high ethical standards by ensuring compliance with codes of conduct, corporate governance requirements, audits, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
