A leading manufacturing organisation in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Senior Quality Manager to oversee and elevate product and service quality standards across its operations. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape quality assurance strategies, drive operational excellence, and ensure strict compliance with industry regulations. You will be at the heart of a hands-on plant manufacturing environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

What you'll do:

As Senior Quality Manager in Penang’s thriving manufacturing sector, you will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s approach to quality assurance. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve establishing rigorous QMS protocols that align with international standards while leading both internal/external audits. You will manage document control systems that underpin operational efficiency across the plant. By overseeing all aspects of incoming inspection through final product validation— especially for PCBA and Box Build Assembly you will ensure every item produced meets exacting standards. You’ll collaborate with suppliers on quality management systems while monitoring their performance through regular audits/capacity evaluations. Your analytical skills will be put to use as you lead RCA/CAPA efforts using structured methodologies like Lean/Six Sigma/Kaizen. Success in this role means not only maintaining compliance but also driving continuous improvement initiatives that elevate customer satisfaction. You’ll mentor a large QA team—setting clear goals/accountability—and provide executive management with strategic insights based on data-driven analysis.

  • Establish, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in strict compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and AS9100 standards to ensure all products meet rigorous quality requirements.
  • Lead all internal and external audits, management reviews, and regulatory inspections by interfacing directly with auditors, certification bodies, and regulatory agencies to uphold compliance.
  • Manage document control processes, change management procedures, and risk-based thinking across the plant to support operational excellence.
  • Oversee incoming inspection, in-process testing, and final product quality control for PCBA, SMT and Box Build manufacturing processes to guarantee consistent product integrity.
  • Review technical problems arising from production procedures and recommend immediate solutions or procedural changes to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Propose departmental KPIs aligned with corporate goals; cascade these targets throughout the team to ensure measurable progress towards quality objectives.
  • Direct the product lifecycle quality assurance process including First Article Inspection (FAI) review/approval, supplier selection activities, and manufacturing line qualifications for new products.
  • Develop and maintain robust supplier quality management systems for outsourced PCBA and contract manufacturers by overseeing supplier audits and capacity evaluations.
  • Monitor supplier performance closely by issuing Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) when necessary and driving continuous improvement initiatives among vendors.
  • Champion a facts-and-data-driven mindset within the quality department by leading root cause analysis (RCA), implementing effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), analysing trends in yield metrics/KPIs to minimise waste.

  • Extensive experience in PCBA and Box Build manufacturing fields is essential for understanding complex production environments.
  • Proven track record managing full scope of quality functions within the recent 3–5 years of your career ensures readiness for this leadership position.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of ISO 9001 is mandatory; strong preference given for candidates experienced in ISO 13485 (Medical Devices) and AS9100 (Aerospace).
  • High proficiency in Data Analysis techniques as well as Quality Engineering methodologies including 8D methodology, FMEA, SPC, Cpk, PPAP, APQP, DOE, Quality Reporting is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage/scale a manufacturing quality team of 20+ personnel shows your commitment to collaborative leadership.
  • Structured analytical mindset capable of determining root causes of complex issues surfacing in high-mix production environments is vital.
  • Sharp attention to detail allows accurate judgement of slight variations in product/process alignment during inspections.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills empower you to lead meetings/present technical data clearly to local/international stakeholders.
