Save job

A leading organisation in Shah Alam is seeking a Process Engineer specialising in design and project delivery to join their team. This role offers you the opportunity to work on complex engineering systems within commercial and industrial developments, providing end-to-end project ownership and technical guidance across all stages of engineering, procurement, construction, and project closure.

What you'll do:

As a Process Engineer Design and Project based in Shah Alam, you will play a pivotal role throughout the entire project lifecycle—from initial design through procurement, construction supervision, quality assurance, commercial liaison, to final project closure. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with multi-disciplinary teams including clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, EHS specialists, commercial departments, and quality controllers. You will guide CAD designers in producing precise drawings; respond promptly to technical queries from bidders; facilitate contractors during construction; initiate necessary changes in design or scope; lead testing and commissioning activities; provide expert advice on construction issues; support quality control efforts; verify progress claims; sign off on critical documentation at project closure; and ensure seamless handover processes. Success in this role requires strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines while maintaining high standards of safety compliance and technical excellence. Your ability to communicate effectively across diverse stakeholders will be essential for achieving outstanding results.

  • Take charge of designated disciplines in design and technical aspects by managing local authority submissions for systems not compulsory for obtaining CCC.
  • Perform detailed engineering design and calculations while coordinating system designs with specialist teams to ensure timely delivery according to schedule.
  • Prepare tender scope of work, specifications, and bill of quantities (BOQ), guiding CAD designers in producing accurate drawings for each stage of the project.
  • Respond to technical queries from bidders during procurement stages by chairing clarification sessions, evaluating technical submissions, and producing comprehensive comparisons between bidders.
  • Assist the EHS department in site safety supervision during construction phases while managing work packages and facilitating contractors in project delivery.
  • Initiate changes in design or scope of work as required by submitting technical documentation to clients and reviewing contractor submissions including work method statements.
  • Lead testing and commissioning activities for respective disciplines with support from quality controllers in documentation tasks.
  • Provide ongoing technical advice to construction teams regarding scope updates or changes while liaising with commercial departments on cost-related issues such as verifying progress claims.
  • Support quality control teams by supplying technical specifications, inspection test plans, forms, and checklists; ensure execution of quality control plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Sign off testing and commissioning forms at project closure, verify completion of all scopes of work, assist in handover documentation compilation, and review operating/maintenance manuals submitted by contractors.

What you bring:

Your proven experience as a Process Engineer Design and Project will include a solid foundation in chemical or mechanical engineering disciplines supported by at least 3 years’ exposure within the construction sector. You bring hands-on familiarity with AutoCAD software plus advanced skills using Microsoft Office tools—enabling you to produce accurate designs and manage documentation efficiently. Your interpersonal strengths allow you to connect easily with colleagues from various backgrounds while your communication skills foster clear understanding among stakeholders. You are dependable when working independently yet thrive within collaborative environments where teamwork drives successful outcomes. Your willingness to travel ensures you can support site operations whenever needed. Familiarity with water treatment technologies or process engineering solutions for utilities/industrial projects further enhances your profile—especially if you possess additional knowledge about UHP gas systems or chemical distribution networks. Your ability to support quality assurance initiatives through preparation of inspection test plans or technical specifications demonstrates your commitment to delivering excellence.

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent qualification is required for this position.
  • At least five years’ experience working within the construction industry is essential for success in this role.
  • Ability to operate AutoCAD software alongside proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint is necessary for daily tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills combined with effective communication abilities are vital for collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong organisational skills paired with time management capabilities enable you to prioritise tasks efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and station at site when required demonstrates flexibility and commitment to project needs.
  • Experience with water treatment systems, process engineering projects involving utilities or industrial settings is highly relevant for this position.
  • Knowledge of UHP (Ultra High Purity) gas systems as well as chemical distribution systems or WWTP (Waste Water Treatment Plant) systems would be considered an added advantage.
  • Ability to work dependably under minimum supervision while maintaining motivation throughout complex projects is important.
  • Proven track record supporting quality control teams by providing technical specifications or inspection test plans enhances your suitability.
