What you'll do:

As Quality Manager in Penang’s premier manufacturing facility, you will play a central role in shaping the site’s approach to quality assurance. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve guiding a diverse team of engineers, technicians, and inspectors towards achieving zero-defect manufacturing. You’ll collaborate extensively across departments—working together with operations, design, production, and supply chain teams—to drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product reliability. By developing robust strategies aligned with corporate objectives, you’ll ensure that every aspect of the Quality Management System is maintained at the highest standard. Your expertise will be called upon during audits, management reviews, sample qualifications, and material review board meetings. You’ll also provide statistical analysis support for key metrics such as scrap rates or defect part per million. Through your nurturing leadership style and commitment to teamwork, you’ll empower colleagues at all levels to take ownership of quality outcomes while supporting their professional development through training sessions on best practices.

  • Guide and mentor the quality organisation by overseeing engineers, technicians, and inspectors across the facility, ensuring cohesive teamwork and shared responsibility for quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement quality improvement strategies that align with plant and corporate objectives, fostering a communal approach to problem-solving.
  • Develop and execute site-wide quality strategies that promote accountability and performance goals within the quality team, supporting sustainable growth.
  • Establish, maintain, and continually improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements, including planning procedures and leading system set-up.
  • Coordinate internal, customer, and regulatory audits by preparing documentation, supporting audit activities, and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
  • Lead management reviews to evaluate processes and procedures, ensuring they are robust enough to meet both internal benchmarks and external requirements.
  • Oversee completion of First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) per customer requests as well as internal compliance needs.
  • Manage sample qualification for in-house manufactured parts while maintaining measuring instrument management protocols for accuracy and reliability.
  • Chair the Material Review Board for nonconformance parts in inventory, facilitating timely resolution through collaborative decision-making.
  • Support design and manufacturing phases during product development by providing expert guidance on quality assurance practices throughout each stage.

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline—or equivalent combination of education and experience—ensuring you have a solid technical foundation.
  • At least six years’ direct experience in quality roles within manufacturing environments coupled with four years in leadership positions where you’ve demonstrated your ability to guide teams collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in auditing quality systems with strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards; Six Sigma certification is highly valued for its emphasis on process improvement.
  • Expertise in statistical tools such as MiniTab as well as Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods; familiarity with ERP/MRP systems enhances your ability to manage data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent computer skills including advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; Power BI experience is considered advantageous for reporting purposes.
  • Strong teamwork spirit combined with exceptional interpersonal skills enables you to connect effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean manufacturing principles alongside Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement projects.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings with understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), ensuring accurate interpretation during inspections.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude supported by practical experience using inspection tools like calipers, micrometers, microscopes—essential for precision manufacturing environments.
  • Multitasking abilities are crucial; you excel at managing multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising attention to detail or responsiveness.
