Sr. Quality Engineer

Save job

A leading organisation in Penang is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the highest standards of quality across their manufacturing operations.

This position offers you the chance to make a significant impact by implementing, maintaining, and enhancing the Quality Assurance System for both In-Process and Outgoing Quality Control, as well as managing customer audits to ensure all specifications and requirements are met. You will be empowered to guide and nurture a dedicated team, develop robust inspection methods, and collaborate closely with internal teams and customers alike. With a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, this role provides an excellent platform for professional growth, knowledge sharing, and the opportunity to work within a supportive environment that values your expertise. Flexible working opportunities and ongoing training are at the heart of this organisation’s commitment to your development.

  • Take ownership of quality assurance processes, ensuring all products meet rigorous customer specifications and industry standards through effective system implementation and process improvement.
  • Enjoy a collaborative workplace culture that prioritises teamwork, open communication, and continuous learning, offering you ample opportunities for personal and professional advancement.
  • Benefit from flexible working arrangements and comprehensive training programmes designed to support your career progression while fostering a healthy work-life balance.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Quality Engineer based in Penang, you will be entrusted with overseeing the end-to-end quality assurance lifecycle within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Your day-to-day activities will involve designing robust inspection protocols that align with stringent customer expectations while guiding your team towards achieving departmental objectives. You will play an instrumental role in delivering hands-on training sessions that empower your colleagues with the knowledge needed for accurate inspections. By monitoring key quality metrics and spearheading corrective actions where necessary, you will help foster a culture of continuous improvement. Your expertise will also be called upon during first article runs—ensuring new products meet all relevant criteria before they reach customers—and throughout the PPAP submission process. Additionally, you will act as a vital link between the company and its clients by addressing feedback promptly through structured problem-solving approaches such as 8D reporting. Regular process audits will see you upholding best practices across all manufacturing stages while managing non-conformance events decisively. This multifaceted role promises variety each day as you collaborate across departments, interact directly with customers, and contribute meaningfully to organisational success.

  • Develop comprehensive quality inspection methods, documentation, and procedures tailored to both In-Process and Outgoing Quality Inspection in line with customer specifications and requirements.
  • Allocate tasks effectively within the Quality Team, providing clear guidance to ensure departmental key performance indicators are consistently achieved.
  • Deliver targeted training sessions for QA Technicians, Leaders, and Inspectors based on prepared quality inspection documents to guarantee full understanding of specifications and correct inspection methodologies.
  • Monitor ongoing performance in both In-Process Quality and Outgoing Quality areas, proactively developing corrective action plans when necessary to drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate actively in First Article product runs to confirm compliance with customer requirements, qualifying products accordingly and preparing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.
  • Utilise advanced quality improvement tools to devise strategies for resolving customer complaints or online quality issues in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Engage directly with customers to address and resolve any quality concerns related to their specific requirements, ensuring satisfaction at every stage.
  • Coordinate 8D Reports or Corrective And Preventive Actions (CAPA) as requested by customers, working closely with internal teams to verify effectiveness of implemented solutions.
  • Conduct thorough process audits to ensure manufacturing processes, CAPA actions, and improvement initiatives are properly implemented, maintained, and compliant with established procedures.
  • Manage customer audits efficiently while coordinating purges for non-conforming materials or parts as required by operational needs.

What you bring:

To excel as a Senior Quality Engineer in this organisation, you will bring not only technical qualifications but also practical experience honed within demanding manufacturing settings. Your background should reflect hands-on involvement in supplier management activities alongside deep familiarity with statistical tools used for monitoring process capability. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on collaboration—working closely with colleagues from diverse backgrounds—and who takes pride in nurturing others through effective coaching. Your attention to detail ensures that documentation is always precise while your communication style fosters trust among peers and clients alike. A genuine passion for continuous improvement underpins everything you do; whether it’s refining existing processes or introducing new ways of working based on data-driven insights. Above all else, your commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity makes you an invaluable asset within any team focused on delivering exceptional results.

  • Possess at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Engineering or an equivalent field which demonstrates your technical foundation.
  • Bring a minimum of two years’ relevant experience within a similar capacity—ideally gained in a multinational corporation setting—to ensure familiarity with complex operational environments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in supplier quality management practices that enable you to maintain high standards throughout the supply chain.
  • Showcase strong problem-solving abilities using structured methodologies such as SPC (Statistical Process Control), CAPA (Corrective And Preventive Action), and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Exhibit experience conducting supplier audits that reinforce compliance with both internal policies and external regulations.
  • Display excellent interpersonal skills that allow you to communicate clearly with team members at all levels as well as external stakeholders including customers.
  • Have proven ability in developing detailed documentation for inspection processes which supports consistent application of quality standards across operations.
  • Be adept at delivering engaging training sessions that enhance team capabilities while promoting shared understanding of critical procedures.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity towards customer needs by responding empathetically to feedback and striving for mutually beneficial resolutions whenever issues arise.
