Production Engineer
A leading organisation in Johor is seeking a Production Engineer to join their thriving manufacturing team. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, reducing variability, and enhancing productivity across the plant. You will be empowered to engage with shift teams, support new projects, and implement best practices that foster a culture of zero loss and 100% engagement.
What you'll do:
As a Production Engineer, you will be at the heart of manufacturing operations—working collaboratively with shift teams to identify root causes of inefficiencies while implementing robust solutions that drive measurable improvements. Your day-to-day activities will involve leveraging advanced methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, and Total Productive Maintenance to reduce losses and enhance predictability of results.
- Engage with shift teams on a daily basis to identify opportunities for eliminating losses related to quality, safety, and productivity using structured methodologies.
- Apply Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) tools such as Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, and Defect Tagging to drive continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of production.
- Review safety performance during Operations Performance meetings by providing practical solutions and rolling out best practices that enhance workplace safety.
- Coordinate pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy efforts in close collaboration with the Global Safety Health and Environmental Manager.
- Model the use of MOS tools by supporting their rollout and further development through hands-on involvement with production teams.
- Promote a zero loss culture by nurturing engagement among team members while auditing consistency in competency and processes.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define impactful projects that address compelling business needs (CBN) for immediate improvements in daily operations.
- Source appropriate support for project implementation while ensuring improvements are locked in place for long-term success.
- Reduce process variability by improving process capability and minimising waste in all forms affecting line performance.
- Ensure manufacturing requirements are included in equipment specifications (URS), support commissioning phases (C&Q), validate compliance with safety regulations such as HACCP and GMP, and act as a safety leader reinforcing safe behaviours.
What you bring:
Your background as a Production Engineer equips you with deep technical knowledge of manufacturing processes combined with hands-on experience applying continuous improvement tools.
- University degree or higher in Food Science, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering or a related field is required for this position.
- Minimum three years’ experience working within a manufacturing environment—preferably within Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG)—is essential for success.
- Proven expertise in Operational Excellence methodologies such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma is highly desirable.
- Intermediate proficiency in English alongside fluency in the local language enables effective communication across diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate pollution control measures, waste management strategies, recycling initiatives, environmental health protocols, conservation efforts, and renewable energy projects is important.
- Experience supporting commissioning phases (C&Q), validating equipment against safety regulations like HACCP or GMP standards is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills allow you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while nurturing an inclusive work environment.
- A flexible attitude towards changing conditions ensures you can adapt quickly when priorities shift or new challenges arise within the plant setting.
- Commitment to personal development is reflected through participation in training opportunities or mentoring programmes designed to build leadership capabilities.
