What you'll do:

As a PCB Layout Design Engineer based in Penang, you will play an integral part in shaping the future of advanced semiconductor test equipment by taking ownership of the full spectrum of PCB design activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to transform complex requirements into robust circuit board layouts that meet stringent industry standards. You will be involved in everything from initial concept discussions through detailed simulations and verifications right up to supporting manufacturing partners during production. By maintaining accurate component libraries and resolving technical challenges swiftly, you will help ensure each project progresses smoothly towards its milestones. • Design high-quality printed circuit boards (PCBs) tailored for advanced semiconductor test equipment as well as customer-specific load boards, ensuring robust performance and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, signal integrity/power integrity specialists, and manufacturing experts to translate technical requirements into effective PCB layouts.
• Interpret detailed design specifications while ensuring strict compliance with IPC standards as well as DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFT (Design for Test) requirements throughout the process.
• Perform comprehensive circuit analysis, design verification, and simulation activities to guarantee optimal electrical performance and adherence to project objectives.
• Create, maintain, validate, and update PCB library components to ensure accuracy and consistency across all designs within the organisation.
• Work hand-in-hand with manufacturing teams to resolve any PCB-related issues that arise during production, driving continuous process improvements for enhanced quality outcomes.
• Liaise proactively with PCB fabricators regarding engineering queries, technical requirements, stack-ups, quotations, and quality matters to ensure seamless project execution.
• Ensure timely delivery of all design outputs in alignment with established project schedules and key milestones set by the wider engineering team.
• For senior candidates: Drive ongoing improvement in design methodologies, tools, and processes by introducing best practices based on industry trends and internal learnings.

• A minimum of three years’ experience in PCB design is preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of core PCB design principles is essential; familiarity with high-speed considerations will be viewed as an advantage when assessing applications.
• Proficiency with industry-standard PCB design tools such as PADs along with simulation software is considered beneficial but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), DFT (Design for Test), as well as IPC standards is highly desirable for this role.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities combined with meticulous attention to detail are crucial attributes sought after in successful candidates.
