What you'll do:
As a Senior PLC and Electrical Engineer in this exciting position based in Kulim, you’ll immerse yourself in designing state-of-the-art electrical control systems for bespoke automation solutions. Your days will be filled with variety—from brainstorming initial concepts to seeing your designs come alive during final commissioning. You’ll collaborate across disciplines: partnering with mechanical engineers to validate ideas; supporting assembly teams as they bring projects to life; connecting with global experts on international assignments; and uplifting junior team members through mentorship. - Design comprehensive electrical control system architectures for custom automation equipment, ensuring robust power distribution, safety circuits, control circuits, and I/O allocation tailored to each project’s requirements.
- Develop detailed electrical schematics using EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical, selecting appropriate components such as PLCs, safety PLCs, servo drives, sensors, relays, breakers, and power supplies while maintaining compliance with IEC, CE, and local standards.
- Create precise control panel layouts and wiring diagrams; review assembly drawings to guarantee safety and ease of maintenance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Prepare thorough documentation packages including I/O lists, cable lists, terminal lists, wiring diagrams, and maintain strict revision control for all project records.
- Architect modular PLC control logic, developing structured programs that implement communication protocols like Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus.
- Develop HMI interfaces with effective alarm management; integrate motion systems, servo drives, safety systems, vision systems, and external equipment for seamless operation.
- Lead internal testing and validation activities; support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), performing on-site commissioning and troubleshooting as required.
- Provide expert technical support during quotation stages by evaluating electrical concepts, estimating I/O counts and hardware configurations while identifying potential risks early in the process.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical engineering colleagues to ensure design feasibility; coordinate closely with assembly teams during build phases and provide ongoing technical support to after-sales service functions.
- Champion technical standardisation by contributing to reusable PLC program templates and electrical design standards; mentor junior engineers through knowledge sharing sessions and internal reviews.
