What you'll do:

As Senior Manager, Asset Management (Renewable Energy), you will play a central role in shaping the operational success of a diverse portfolio of renewable energy assets. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with technical specialists across multiple sites to monitor asset performance, identify areas for optimisation, and implement best-in-class maintenance strategies. You will provide expert guidance on troubleshooting complex equipment issues while ensuring that all plants adhere to rigorous safety and regulatory standards. In addition to managing reporting cycles and supporting business continuity planning, you will act as a trusted partner to internal stakeholders—driving strategic initiatives that enhance profitability and sustainability. Your ability to foster teamwork among cross-functional groups will be essential as you lead efforts in human capital development and policy formulation. By leveraging your deep industry knowledge and analytical skills, you will help set new benchmarks for operational excellence within the renewable energy sector.

  • Lead the asset management team in monitoring and analysing daily performance metrics for all power plant assets within the group to ensure they operate at peak efficiency.
  • Conduct regular reviews of plant performance with site teams, identifying trends and providing actionable recommendations for improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Oversee failure analysis using Root Cause Analysis methodologies to resolve chronic equipment issues and support operations and maintenance teams in implementing effective solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports on key performance indicators for management, board members, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Act as Head of Operations for utility-scale solar and energy storage business units in Malaysia, guiding site management on all aspects of operations and maintenance matters.
  • Develop short-, medium-, and long-term strategic plans for plant operations covering profitability, budgeting, compliance, health & safety, contract management, procurement, and human capital development.
  • Review maintenance strategies developed by operations teams to ensure equipment reliability using Reliability Centered Maintenance principles; promote condition-based maintenance tools for early fault detection.
  • Collaborate with risk management teams to assess operational risks, maintain up-to-date insurance coverage for all assets, and manage claims processes efficiently.
  • Ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements through regular operational meetings with plant teams; resolve compliance issues proactively with relevant authorities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting lean management practices, adopting new technologies in plant operations, and conducting benchmarking exercises against industry standards.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university is required for this position.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the power generation sector with a minimum of 7 years spent in managerial roles overseeing large-scale operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of power plant operations & maintenance best practices—including QHSE standards—and proven ability to apply these within renewable energy environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of local regulatory frameworks such as the Electricity Supply Act (ESA) as well as DOSH safety regulations relevant to power plant operations.
  • Hands-on experience with preventive/predictive maintenance methodologies (RCM/CBM), use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and advanced diagnostic tools for solar PV systems such as PVSyst or SolarGIS.
  • Demonstrated capability in contract management, project management, budget planning, cost optimisation strategies, and stakeholder engagement across multiple levels.
  • Proficiency in conducting detailed failure analysis using root cause methodologies; adept at utilising software platforms for monitoring system performance.
  • Up-to-date awareness of global technology advancements—such as battery storage integration or AI-based O&M solutions—and their application within renewable energy projects.
  • Exceptional mentoring skills with a track record of developing technical talent through coaching programmes or structured training needs analysis initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication abilities enabling effective collaboration with internal teams as well as external partners including vendors, contractors, regulators, customers, and local communities.
