What you'll do:
As Senior Manager Test Engineering based in Penang, you will play an integral role in shaping the future of the Test Engineering department. - Develop and execute strategic plans for the Test Engineering team that align with organisational vision, translating them into actionable tactics for daily operations.
- Mentor, manage, and build a sustainable engineering organisation by supervising Test Technicians, Debug, and Rework teams while fostering a nurturing environment.
- Plan, monitor, and control resources including manpower, machinery, materials, and departmental budgets to optimise costs and ensure efficient use of consumables and spare parts.
- Guide electronic engineering personnel in the fabrication, design, procurement, calibration of test apparatus as well as software, hardware, and systems testing.
- Advance testing efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives such as process streamlining, methodology evolution, hardware/software optimisation or reverse engineering.
- Anticipate risks associated with test strategies; document issues thoroughly; escalate critical problems swiftly to maintain uninterrupted line operations.
- Collaborate closely with internal scientific, engineering, and customer personnel to resolve complex product malfunctions, data anomalies or coding issues in a considerate manner.
- Uphold strict compliance with company directives including Safety, Environment standards (QMS/EMS), Labour Ethics policies as well as 5S and FOD requirements.
- Champion yield improvement projects while driving cost-reduction efforts through automation across the production floor.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that enhance communication between departments to ensure smooth implementation of new products.

- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or related technical field is required for this role.
- At least ten years’ experience in debug/failure analysis within electronics industry is essential; five years must be spent in a leadership or management capacity.
- Deep domain expertise in semiconductor manufacturing processes covering both front-line operations and backend procedures is highly valued.
- Strong proficiency in Test Engineering techniques including PCBA and HLA skills as well as Debug/Rework methodologies is expected.
- In-depth understanding of power supply design principles (AC-DC/DC-DC conversion) alongside familiarity with reliability/environmental testing such as HASS/HALT/burn-in/thermal cycling/vibration is preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma or IPC-A-610/IPC 7711/7721 certifications are considered strong advantages but not mandatory.
