AVP, Data Analytics (Banking)
A leading bank in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an AVP, Data Analytics to join their Wholesale Banking division. You will work closely with senior business leaders and stakeholders across all product lines, using your analytical expertise to uncover actionable insights that drive commercial success and client engagement. What you'll do:
- Partner with stakeholders across Wholesale Banking to identify key business opportunities, address pain points, and uncover growth levers in areas such as client coverage, lending, and risk management.
- Leverage both internal and external data sources to detect trends, highlight emerging risks, and pinpoint new avenues for value creation.
- Conduct comprehensive deep-dive analyses on large datasets and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for business and management teams.
- Develop robust analytical frameworks, dashboards, and visualisations that empower teams to make informed decisions based on reliable data insights.
- Drive analytics use cases from initial problem definition through data exploration, solution development, implementation, and post-implementation impact assessment.
- Collaborate closely with data engineers, risk professionals, relationship managers, and product teams to enhance data quality, accessibility, and usability throughout the organisation.
- Explore innovative approaches in predictive analytics and machine learning to improve business outcomes and support more effective decision-making processes.
- Support the creation of scalable analytical assets, models, and reusable frameworks that can be leveraged across the entire Wholesale Banking franchise.
- Champion best practices in data governance while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements related to data usage and privacy.
What you bring:
- A degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, or computer science provides a solid foundation for success in this role.
- At least 7-8 years of overall professional experience with a minimum of 5 years dedicated specifically to data analytics roles is essential for handling complex business problems.
- Demonstrated experience applying analytics within sales or marketing contexts enables you to understand commercial drivers and deliver relevant insights.
- Familiarity with banking domain knowledge—particularly analytics related to loans and credit risk—will help you navigate industry-specific challenges effectively.
- Proficiency in Python is required for conducting advanced analyses and building scalable models that support business objectives.
- Exceptional analytical thinking combined with strong problem-solving abilities allows you to frame ambiguous issues clearly and develop structured solutions.
- Excellent communication skills are necessary for translating complex data findings into compelling narratives tailored for diverse audiences including senior management.
- A collaborative mindset ensures effective partnership with sales teams, product managers, risk professionals, engineers, and other stakeholders across the organisation.
- Experience developing dashboards or visualisation tools enhances your ability to present insights in accessible formats that drive action.
