ZOP - Finance, Tax Manager
Responsible for managing end-to-end tax compliance and advisory across corporate tax, indirect tax (SST and WHT), and transfer pricing for Group entities. Oversees tax reporting, audits, and regulatory submissions while partnering with business units to ensure accurate tax treatment. Supports Group tax governance, identifies risks and optimisation opportunities, and ensures compliance with Malaysian tax regulations and reporting standards.
Job Responsibilities
1. Corporate Tax (Direct Tax & Advisory)
- Oversee the full cycle of corporate tax compliance, including preparation, review, and submission of tax returns across all Group entities.
- Manage tax reporting processes such as tax provisioning, deferred tax calculations, and disclosures for statutory and consolidated reporting.
- Act as the primary contact for tax audits, inquiries, and investigations, including coordination with external tax consultants and advisors.
- Deliver tax advisory support on commercial transactions, product structuring, and new business initiatives spanning investment banking, brokerage, and asset management activities.
2. Indirect Tax Compliance (SST & WHT)
- Ensure compliance with Sales and Service Tax (SST) requirements, including accurate computation and timely filing of returns.
- Monitor and manage withholding tax obligations, ensuring correct application and submission in accordance with regulations.
- Provide subject matter guidance on indirect tax implications for a range of transactions and operational scenarios.
3. Transfer Pricing Management
- Lead transfer pricing compliance activities, including preparation, review, and maintenance of supporting documentation.
- Ensure intercompany dealings adhere to arm’s length principles and are aligned with Group transfer pricing policies.
- Support resolution of transfer pricing audits and respond to regulatory queries or reviews.
4. Group Tax Coordination & Governance
- Act as a key point of contact for Group Tax matters, supporting enterprise-wide tax initiatives, reporting, and policy implementation.
- Enhance and harmonise tax governance frameworks, processes, and internal controls across business entities.
- Identify potential tax exposures and optimisation opportunities, providing recommendations to improve tax efficiency and risk management.
5. Business Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Finance, Business Units, and Operations teams to ensure proper tax treatment and compliance across transactions.
- Provide clear, practical guidance on technical tax matters to internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies on tax-related matters.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or relevant professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, MICPA, CIMA, ICAEW, etc.).
- At least 4 years of tax experience in professional services or corporate environments.
- Strong understanding of Malaysian tax legislation, including corporate tax, SST, withholding tax, and transfer pricing.
- Prior experience in managing tax audits and dealing with tax authorities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently in a lean team structure.
