SAVP, Capital & Balance Sheet Management
A leading bank in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a SAVP Capital and Balance Sheet Management to join their dynamic Finance division. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to drive balance sheet optimisation by integrating regulatory requirements with organisational targets, ensuring the bank’s financial health and strategic growth. You will be at the heart of analytical support for capital optimisation, liquidity management, and funds transfer pricing.
What you'll do:
- Provide comprehensive analytical support for balance sheet optimisation including capital optimisation and net income margin evaluation, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organisational goals.
- Perform detailed scenario analysis and gap analysis to identify opportunities for structural improvements in balance sheet management.
- Offer insightful input into budgeting processes related to balance sheet activities and funds transfer pricing (FTP), supporting effective financial planning.
- Monitor compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines, devising strategies to meet evolving requirements while maintaining high ethical standards.
- Collaborate closely with Treasury Capital Management on asset liability management (ALM) portfolio deployment strategies, including hedging activities and fund raising initiatives such as securitisation of financing or sukuk issuance.
- Deliver analytical support for financing and deposit pricing strategies, engaging with business units to drive adoption and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
- Review and implement changes to pricing methodologies, developing hurdle rate frameworks that incorporate FTP, credit, operational, and capital costs.
- Develop and produce FTP reports summarising data across products and lines of business, instituting robust controls over FTP processes throughout all business units.
- Lead planning and implementation of new FTP platforms, managing all go-live activities as well as post-launch maintenance of user rules and report generation.
- Supervise department housekeeping, cost containment efforts, manpower management, goal setting, performance indicators for team members, and contribute to ad hoc finance projects as assigned by management.
What you bring:
- Minimum qualification should be a bachelor’s degree or professional degree in finance, accountancy, banking or equivalent field.
- At least 15 years’ experience in the banking industry with proven exposure to liquidity management or market risk; asset liability management; or capital management.
- Good knowledge of asset liability management techniques and practices relevant to financial institutions operating under strict regulatory environments.
- Strong understanding of liquidity funding principles as well as capital and balance sheet management methodologies.
- Advanced modelling skills coupled with hands-on experience using ALM simulation packages for funding liquidity and balance sheet risk assessment.
- Excellent communication skills enabling you to negotiate effectively with stakeholders across departments while influencing outcomes positively.
- Outstanding interpersonal abilities that encourage enthusiasm among colleagues and promote team spirit within the Finance division.
- Demonstrated commitment to meeting tight deadlines through responsible project management practices that overcome challenges collaboratively.
- Experience reviewing regulatory reports (CAFIB), determining treatment of new products under changing requirements, and leading responses to new regulations.
- Ability to supervise departmental housekeeping functions including cost containment efforts manpower allocation goal setting performance indicator definition.
