Senior Finance Manager

The Senior Finance Manager is the most senior finance leader in Malaysia, responsible for overseeing the full finance function, including accounting, financial reporting, treasury, compliance, and team management. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller in Melbourne and partnering closely with the Malaysia COO, the role provides financial insights and strategic support to drive operational performance and informed business decision-making.

Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Manage the full spectrum of accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and fixed asset management across all entities.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.
  • Prepare and analyse management reports, financial statements, variance analyses, and performance dashboards for Group reporting.
  • Coordinate the preparation of consolidated financial information and support ASX reporting requirements at Group level.
  • Drive the annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and working capital management processes.

Finance Operations & Treasury

  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including billing, collections, payment processing, and settlement reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash positions and forecast funding requirements to ensure seamless business and transaction operations.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and expense controls.

Business Partnering & Commercial Support

  • Partner closely with the COO and business leaders to provide financial insights and recommendations that support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Analyse key business metrics, including transaction volumes, revenue performance, margin trends, and customer concentration risks.
  • Support business growth initiatives through financial modelling, commercial evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Deliver meaningful financial commentary, highlighting key trends, risks, opportunities, and performance drivers.

Regulatory Compliance & Governance

  • Serve as the key point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and regulatory authorities.
  • Oversee audit, tax, statutory reporting, and corporate compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian tax regulations, e-invoicing requirements, accounting standards, and internal policies.
  • Strengthen governance frameworks, internal controls, policies, and standard operating procedures to support business growth and risk management.

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Establish clear performance objectives and support the ongoing development of technical and professional capabilities within the team.
  • Drive continuous improvements in finance processes, systems, and reporting practices.
  • Champion automation and technology adoption to improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional qualifications (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CA, MICPA) are highly desirable.
  • 7–10 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Strong experience in full-set accounting, financial reporting, and month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Solid knowledge of Malaysian SST, e-invoicing compliance, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience in preparing consolidated financial statements and reporting to an overseas parent company or listed entity.
  • Proven ability to act as a finance business partner, translating financial data into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Autocount or similar ERP systems, advanced Excel skills, and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services industries is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of working capital management in a prepayment-based transaction model is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders across Malaysia and Australia.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving abilities with a continuous improvement mindset.
