What you'll do:
As an AS400 Engineer based in Kuala Lumpur, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of essential banking platforms. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve monitoring system health checks, administering routine maintenance tasks, reviewing capacity planning for critical infrastructure, managing detailed documentation processes, and supporting disaster recovery activities. You will also be responsible for installing upgrades, configuring new features, developing solutions tailored to business needs, and testing implementations to ensure they meet operational standards. Success in this role requires prompt response to incidents and service requests via helpdesk channels; diligent completion of root cause analyses; regular review of SOPs; active participation in training programmes; and efficient handling of project deliverables. By fostering collaboration within the team and sharing knowledge through updated documentation, you will contribute significantly to the organisation’s ability to deliver reliable services while supporting its transformation initiatives.
- Monitor, administer, and perform housekeeping tasks to ensure high availability of AS400 systems, collaborating closely with colleagues to maintain seamless operations.
- Conduct biannual reviews of system capacity, high availability, and health for critical systems to guarantee sufficient resources for at least six months ahead.
- Manage system utilities and documentation by creating, updating, and maintaining comprehensive records that support operational excellence and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Provide robust disaster recovery support both onsite and offsite, actively participating in exercises to ensure successful outcomes and business continuity.
- Install, upgrade, configure, develop, and test AS400 systems in alignment with business goals while delivering timely support for evolving requirements.
- Achieve agreed service level agreements (SLAs) for system availability by responding promptly to incidents and requests through established helpdesk channels.
- Complete root cause analysis (RCA) actions within stipulated timelines by following up remediation items until closure as per incident management guidelines.
- Review standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation regularly—such as startup/shutdown guides—to ensure accuracy and compliance with current practices.
- Respond efficiently to project and service requests from internal stakeholders within five working days upon receipt via email or ticketing systems.
- Attend mandatory online training sessions provided by vendors or the organisation to continually improve your technical capabilities.
