This role will work with the stakeholders to lead the testing transformation and ensure the successful the delivery of testing services in accordance to the organization’s standards and processes. The candidate is also expected to do resource planning to fulfil the projects/delivery needs for the organisation and manage execution of the Quality Engineering Maturity Model and Roadmaps and will drive continual improvements to the QA practice.

What you'll do:

As the Test Centre of Excellence Lead based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be at the forefront of delivering robust testing services across a wide range of banking applications. Your daily responsibilities will involve collaborating with both internal teams and external vendors to ensure that all aspects of performance testing are executed efficiently. You will play a key role in reviewing processes, managing resources for project delivery needs, tracking performance metrics, and reporting outcomes against defined targets. By engaging with various stakeholder communities—including application owners, security experts, infrastructure specialists—you will gather feedback on service delivery and identify opportunities for improvement. Your ability to foster a highly collaborative environment will be essential as you work closely with engineering leads to address domain-specific requirements. Success in this role hinges on your capacity to drive continual improvements within the QA practice while maintaining effective relationships across global teams.

  • Take overall accountability for the delivery of testing services across multiple banking domains including Digital, Enterprise, Core Banking & Wealth, Cards and more.
  • Collaborate with engineering and governance teams to review non-functional testing processes and guidelines, ensuring alignment with software development methodologies.
  • Manage and oversee day-to-day performance test services provided by appointed vendors, ensuring adherence to organisational standards.
  • Review, provide feedback on, and sign off test strategies, plans, and artefacts from test service providers to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Coordinate with Test Governance teams to promote adoption of testing methods, standards, tools, and facilitate health checks or audits as required.
  • Engage regularly with application, security, infrastructure, business stakeholders and test service providers to ensure testing services meet organisational objectives.
  • Quantify, track, manage and report on test-related statuses, SLAs and KPIs for your accountable portfolio, ensuring targets are consistently met.
  • Drive planning and collaboration for all testing-related deliveries across portfolios by working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Participate actively in forums to contribute towards testing transformation initiatives and foster innovation within the team.
  • Establish effective relationships with Vendor Test Managers/Test Leads for respective domains to ensure seamless communication and delivery.

What you bring:

Your extensive background as a Test Centre of Excellence Lead will enable you to bring deep technical expertise combined with strong interpersonal skills into this role. You have successfully managed large-scale test delivery projects within complex environments—particularly those involving integration between multiple systems—and possess advanced knowledge of industry-standard tools and methodologies. Your experience spans both Agile frameworks and traditional approaches such as Waterfall or Hybrid Agile. You are comfortable analysing performance data sets for reporting purposes while also being proficient at documenting defects using tools like JIRA. Your proven track record includes cultivating high-performing teams through supportive leadership practices that encourage collaboration among multicultural groups. You have demonstrated your ability to build lasting relationships with stakeholders at all levels—internal/external—and thrive when tasked with driving continuous improvement initiatives. Your familiarity with cloud-based platforms enables you to optimise performance trade-offs effectively while your commitment to integrity ensures that every aspect of your work meets the highest professional standards.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer engineering or related field is required for this position.
  • At least 15-20 years’ proven experience in test delivery or equivalent roles within large-scale organisations; preferably banking or finance sector.
  • Minimum 5 years’ senior management experience overseeing performance testing functions.
  • Expertise in managing end-to-end performance testing across complex environments integrating multiple downstream systems such as mainframe, core banking and AS400 systems.
  • Comfortable handling performance data analysis—knowing what metrics to monitor and how best to report findings.
  • Proficient in documenting software defects using JIRA; able to communicate issues clearly to developers.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate high morale, integrity and teamwork within diverse teams.
  • Experience working in Agile environments as well as familiarity with scalable distributed systems used in service virtualization.
  • Proficiency in cloud-like environments including understanding performance trade-offs associated with these platforms.
  • Skilled at forecasting requirements gathering, delivery execution planning and timeline creation for projects.
  • Experienced in collaborating globally with individuals/teams across different geographies.
  • Hands-on experience conducting performance tests using multiple protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, RTE, web services REST/SOAP/JSON).
  • Ability to analyse scalability throughput/load testing metrics against servers; measure/report/recommend response time guidelines/SLAs.
  • Track record building performance benchmarks/workloads; conducting detailed performance analysis.
  • Deep knowledge of testing standards/tools/processes/methodologies/frameworks (Agile/Hybrid Agile/Waterfall/DevOps).
  • Excellent relationship-building skills enabling effective partnerships with internal/external stakeholders for collaborative service delivery.
  • Strong understanding of modern DevOps practices related to software build/test/deploy processes.
  • Experience managing headcount including recruitment/retention strategies; proven people management skills mentoring engineers/leads across teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail coupled with analytical/problem-solving abilities; adept at managing multiple external service providers simultaneously.
  • Experience leading multi-cultural/direct/virtual teams; familiarity with tool suites like JIRA/Confluence/Tosca/Selenium/Loadrunner/Performance Center/Sitescope/HP ALM/Quality Center etc.
  • High level of professional judgement/commitment/integrity/teamwork displayed throughout career history.
  • Excellent client-facing/internal communications/written/verbal skills essential for stakeholder engagement.
  • Testing or quality certifications (PMP/TMMi) preferred; awareness of Test Maturity Model integration framework advantageous.
  • Demonstrated success managing Centre of Excellence organisations through significant change programmes; experience working in multi-sourced/offshore/shared services environments.
