What you'll do:

As a Payroll Analyst based in Penang, you will be entrusted with managing complex multi-country payroll operations from start to finish. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve processing various types of employee compensation changes while maintaining rigorous standards of accuracy. You will collaborate extensively with HR partners and finance colleagues as well as external vendors to ensure seamless service delivery. Your analytical skills will be put to use through regular audits and reconciliations that uphold data integrity. By staying abreast of evolving statutory requirements across different jurisdictions, you will help the organisation remain compliant at all times. Additionally, you will have the chance to contribute towards process standardisation initiatives and system implementations that drive operational excellence.   • Oversee the complete payroll cycle for assigned countries, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on schedule in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Process all payroll transactions such as new hires, terminations, promotions, salary adjustments, bonuses, and other compensation changes with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Conduct thorough validation, reconciliation, audits, and analysis of payroll data to maintain integrity and accuracy at all times.
  • Ensure full compliance with local employment legislation, tax regulations, statutory reporting obligations, and employer responsibilities.
  • Coordinate expatriate payroll administration including tax reporting, filings, and related compliance matters where applicable.
  • Review the impact of equity compensation transactions on payroll processing to guarantee precise outcomes.
  • Partner with Global Business Services (GBS) teams to ensure accurate accounting entries, reconciliations, and comprehensive reporting for payroll activities.
  • Support both internal and external audits as well as regulatory reviews by providing necessary documentation and responding promptly to inquiries.
  • Manage relationships with HR teams, Accounting departments, GBS units, and external service providers to deliver high-quality payroll services while resolving employee queries efficiently.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality and security of sensitive payroll data, systems access, and documentation at all times.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business or a related discipline is required for this role.
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience managing multi-country payroll operations within a GBS or Shared Services environment is essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll processes including employment legislation, taxation rules, statutory compliance requirements across different regions.
  • Proven track record in managing payroll audits as well as regulatory inspections and compliance activities effectively.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities combined with strong reconciliation skills enabling you to interpret complex financial data accurately.
  • High level of attention to detail allowing you to juggle multiple priorities while consistently meeting critical deadlines.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management capabilities along with effective business partnering skills when working collaboratively across functions.
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll providers as well as hands-on knowledge of various payroll systems; prior involvement in implementation or transformation projects is advantageous.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel coupled with solid working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications is expected.
  • Unwavering integrity demonstrated by your ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while upholding confidentiality at all times.
