What you'll do:
As a General Ledger Executive/Accountant based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be entrusted with managing the organisation’s full set of accounts through meticulous general ledger functions. Your day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing monthly closings, preparing annual audited accounts, handling tax computations, developing budgets and forecasts, updating asset registers, ensuring completeness of financial entries such as accruals and provisions, estimating profitability for interim tax payments, liaising with key external parties like auditors and bankers, reviewing tender costings, and collaborating with the Operations Team on project status. Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills for effective communication across departments, and a commitment to upholding high standards of integrity. - Perform the full spectrum of general ledger functions to maintain a comprehensive set of accounts for the organisation.
- Accountable for executing monthly closing procedures, including variance analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare annual audited accounts in accordance with regulatory requirements and approved accounting standards.
- Handle tax computations, deferred tax calculations, and ensure timely submission of all related documentation.
- Develop yearly budgets and forecasts while conducting detailed financial analyses for management review.
- Update the fixed asset register regularly to reflect accurate asset information.
- Ensure completeness of accruals, provisions, and prepayments by reviewing supporting documents and entries.
- Estimate forecast profitability for interim tax payment purposes by analysing relevant financial data.
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, and bankers to facilitate smooth audits and compliance processes.
- Review tender costing and commercial proposals while coordinating with the Operations Team on project status and revenue recognition.
What you bring:
The ideal General Ledger Executive/Accountant brings substantial experience in finance or accountancy roles—preferably gained within a Big 4 audit firm—and holds relevant qualifications such as a Professional Certificate or degree.
