FP&A Manager (Malacca)

Save job

An exciting FP&A Manager job has become available with a MNC Manufacturing Company based in Malacca.

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Financial Planning and Analysis Manager to join a thriving international manufacturing group based in Malacca. This pivotal role offers the chance to shape financial strategy across the APAC region, working closely with senior leaders in Malaysia, Singapore, India, the UK, and Group Finance. As the trusted finance business partner to divisional leadership, you will provide invaluable insight into revenue streams, margin optimisation, operational performance, and cash generation. The organisation is experiencing significant growth, making this an ideal time for you to contribute your expertise and help drive commercial success. With a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement, this position promises exposure to complex business challenges, cross-border projects, and the opportunity to influence key decisions at the highest level. Flexible working opportunities and a supportive environment ensure you can thrive both professionally and personally.

  • Play a central role in shaping financial strategy for a rapidly expanding international manufacturing division with regular interaction across multiple countries.
  • Enjoy flexible working opportunities within a collaborative team that values knowledge sharing, professional development, and inclusive leadership.
  • Gain exposure to high-level decision-making processes while supporting business growth through data-driven insights and robust financial analysis.

What you'll do:

As Financial Planning and Analysis Manager based in Malacca, you will be instrumental in driving financial excellence across the APAC division of a leading international manufacturing group. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams spanning sales, operations, supply chain management, and local finance units. You will take ownership of all aspects of financial planning—from detailed budgeting cycles to dynamic forecasting—ensuring that every projection is both commercially realistic and operationally achievable. By delivering insightful monthly performance reviews supported by robust management reporting packs for both divisional leaders and Group Finance stakeholders, you will enable informed decision-making at every level. Your ability to translate complex data into practical recommendations will be crucial as you support scenario planning for major growth initiatives or operational changes. Additionally, you will play a vital role in developing meaningful KPIs that provide visibility into every aspect of divisional performance—from sales effectiveness to manufacturing productivity—while also offering actionable commentary that guides future action. Acting as a trusted business partner to senior leaders means you’ll challenge assumptions constructively using evidence-based analysis while fostering strong relationships built on mutual respect. Your partnership with commercial teams will help uncover new opportunities for margin improvement or market expansion while ensuring that all financial impacts are fully understood before strategic decisions are made.

  • Lead the end-to-end budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning process for the APAC division, ensuring all projections are grounded in operational realities and commercial objectives.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly forecasts covering revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, working capital, and cash flow by collaborating closely with sales, operations, supply chain, and local finance teams.
  • Identify risks and opportunities against budgeted targets and prior year performance while continuously seeking ways to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis for growth initiatives such as new customer opportunities, capital expenditure projects, and operational changes.
  • Drive the monthly divisional performance review process by preparing high-quality management reports for divisional leadership and Group Finance.
  • Deliver clear analysis of key metrics including revenue trends, pricing strategies, product mix evolution, overheads management, cash conversion cycles, and working capital efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain divisional KPIs that track sales performance, manufacturing productivity, labour efficiency, material usage rates, inventory levels, order book status, backlog management, OTIF (On Time In Full), and more.
  • Move beyond traditional reporting by providing actionable commentary that explains not just what happened but why it happened—and what actions are required next.
  • Act as a senior finance business partner to divisional leadership by challenging commercial decisions using robust data analysis and sound judgement.
  • Partner with sales and operations teams to understand margin leakage points, production constraints, cost drivers, customer profitability dynamics, and market expansion opportunities.

What you bring:

To excel as Financial Planning and Analysis Manager in this dynamic environment you will bring substantial experience from similar roles within manufacturing or other operationally complex sectors. Your background should demonstrate not only technical proficiency in budgeting cycles; forecasting methodologies; variance analysis; KPI development; but also an ability to communicate these concepts clearly across functions—including non-finance stakeholders at senior levels. You’ll have honed your analytical skills through years of turning large datasets into meaningful insights that inform strategic choices while maintaining meticulous attention to detail without losing sight of broader organisational goals. Experience with ERP platforms (like D365 or Infor Syteline) alongside BI/reporting tools such as Power BI will allow you to streamline processes efficiently—reducing manual effort wherever possible. Your collaborative approach ensures strong partnerships with colleagues from different disciplines/cultures/time zones while your pragmatic mindset helps navigate ambiguity during periods of rapid change or growth. A recognised accounting qualification is preferred but not essential if your career demonstrates deep expertise in commercial finance within manufacturing contexts.

  • Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), commercial finance or business partnering roles within manufacturing or industrial environments where operational complexity is high.
  • Proven track record of leading budgets, forecasts and performance reporting processes with a strong understanding of revenue recognition principles; gross margin analysis; standard costing; inventory management; overhead allocation; labour efficiency; and working capital optimisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively alongside senior operational leaders—providing clear communication of complex financial information tailored for non-finance audiences.
  • Advanced Excel skills coupled with hands-on experience in financial modelling techniques that support scenario planning or sensitivity analysis for business cases.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (such as D365 or Infor Syteline) as well as BI/reporting tools like Power BI—enabling scalable automation of reporting processes wherever possible.
  • Ability to turn raw data into actionable insight—and then translate those insights into practical recommendations that drive better business outcomes.
  • Comfort operating in fast-growth environments where systems/processes may still be maturing but continuous improvement is encouraged at every level.
  • Experience working across diverse geographies (Malaysia/Singapore/India/APAC) or within private-equity-backed/international group settings is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to post-acquisition integration projects; divisional reporting structures; finance transformation initiatives; or lender/board/investor reporting would be advantageous.
  • Professional accounting qualification preferred (e.g., ACCA/CIMA/CPA/ICAEW) but candidates with deep commercial finance/manufacturing experience will also be considered.
