What you'll do:
Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles for plant operations, ensuring alignment with production capacity and sales forecasts.
Develop comprehensive cost models that incorporate raw materials, energy consumption, labour expenses, and overheads to support scenario analysis such as demand fluctuations or cost inflation.
Maintain and review standard costing systems for materials, labour, and overhead absorption while analysing variances related to material usage, price changes, energy consumption, and labour efficiency.
Monitor production efficiency by tracking wastage rates, yield performance, and ensuring the accuracy of bills of materials (BOM) alongside cost structures.
Prepare monthly plant performance reports detailing cost per ton or unit produced, gross margin by product line, and key production efficiency metrics.
Conduct thorough variance analyses against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods to provide actionable insights that inform management decisions.
Partner closely with Plant Managers as well as Production and Engineering teams to evaluate process improvements, cost-saving initiatives, shutdown planning, and pricing decisions through detailed cost and margin analysis.
Assess inventory levels by monitoring raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), finished goods inventory; analyse slow-moving or obsolete stock; ensure accurate valuation; support stock counts and reconciliation processes.
Evaluate capital expenditure proposals for equipment or plant upgrades by performing ROI calculations, payback period assessments, sensitivity analyses, and tracking post-investment performance against approved business cases.
Drive automation in reporting processes by participating in digital transformation initiatives aimed at strengthening internal controls within costing systems while continuously seeking improvements.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required while professional certification such as ACCA, CIMA or CPA is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience of 3–8 years within manufacturing finance or costing roles with exposure to heavy industry sectors such as cement, lime or chemicals considered advantageous.
Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP) combined with advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data visualisation tools like PowerBI or Tableau are essential for success.
Strong knowledge of standard costing methodologies including variance analysis techniques relevant to energy-intensive manufacturing environments.
Proven ability to translate complex financial data into clear operational insights that support effective decision-making at all organisational levels.
Excellent communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal abilities enable you to build collaborative relationships across departments including production teams and senior management.
A hands-on approach characterised by attention to detail ensures accuracy in reporting while maintaining timeliness under tight deadlines.
Experience managing inventory processes including stock valuation methods as well as identifying slow-moving or obsolete items is highly valued.
Capability to evaluate capital expenditure proposals using ROI calculations along with post-investment tracking demonstrates your analytical acumen.
