Save job

A leading organisation in Penang is seeking a Finance Manager to take full ownership of the finance function for one of its key Business Units.

This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape financial strategy, drive robust planning processes, and ensure disciplined compliance within a supportive and collaborative environment. You will be empowered to lead a high-performing team, champion automation and process improvements, and provide insightful analysis that directly influences business decisions. If you are passionate about fostering growth, nurturing talent, and making a tangible impact through your expertise in finance, this position provides an exceptional platform for your next career step. Flexible working opportunities and ongoing training are part of the culture, ensuring you can thrive both personally and professionally.

  • Take charge of end-to-end finance operations for a major Business Unit, with responsibility for monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and statutory compliance.
  • Play a central role in driving continuous improvement initiatives across FP&A processes, including digitisation and automation projects that enhance efficiency and insight.
  • Lead and develop a cohesive finance team while collaborating closely with operations, commercial, and corporate functions to deliver value-added analysis and support informed management decisions.

What you'll do:

As Finance Manager, you will play an instrumental role in shaping the financial health of a significant Business Unit. Your day-to-day activities will involve overseeing comprehensive finance operations—from managing ledgers to preparing statutory reports—while ensuring all outputs are delivered accurately and on time. You will be responsible for developing detailed budgets and forecasts that align with strategic goals, conducting thorough reviews of financial performance to uncover areas for improvement, and translating these insights into practical actions. Compliance is paramount; you will coordinate audits seamlessly while maintaining rigorous adherence to regulatory requirements. Beyond technical excellence, you will champion process improvements through automation projects that streamline workflows. Your leadership will be vital in building a supportive team culture focused on collaboration with other business functions. By nurturing talent within your team and promoting knowledge sharing across departments, you will help create an environment where everyone can excel.

  • Oversee all aspects of finance operations for the assigned Business Unit, including general ledger management, fixed assets administration, inventory/costing where applicable, as well as statutory and management reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate issuance of monthly accounts such as profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and variance analyses to enable swift and well-informed decision-making by management.
  • Construct annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and multi-year business plans based on sound assumptions aligned with strategic priorities; challenge inputs constructively while quantifying risks and opportunities through scenario analysis.
  • Review financial status regularly to identify trends in performance; pinpoint cost-saving or margin-improvement opportunities and translate insights into actionable plans with clear owners and timelines.
  • Maintain strict adherence to local laws, accounting standards (such as MFRS/IFRS), tax regulations including SST, Companies Act 2016 requirements, Bursa/listing obligations where relevant, and internal policies or controls.
  • Coordinate external and internal audits efficiently; address audit findings promptly to ensure ongoing compliance and robust governance.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving, digitising, and automating planning and analysis processes—such as implementing driver-based models or standardised reporting packs—and promote adoption of business intelligence dashboards.
  • Elevate team capabilities by providing training opportunities, documenting best practices, and encouraging the use of new tools to foster continuous professional development.
  • Build a cohesive finance team by setting clear objectives, coaching performance effectively, fostering collaboration across departments, and upholding high standards of integrity and accountability.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by senior management to meet evolving business needs within required deadlines.

What you bring:

To excel as Finance Manager in this organisation, your background should include substantial experience managing finance functions within manufacturing environments. Your ability to interpret complex financial information accurately will underpin your success in supporting strategic decision-making. You should be adept at navigating regulatory frameworks—ensuring compliance at every stage—and have demonstrated success in leading audit processes from start to finish. Experience with process improvement initiatives—particularly those involving automation or digitisation—will set you apart as someone who adds lasting value. Above all else, your commitment to nurturing talent within your team will help sustain a culture built on mutual respect and shared achievement.

  • Hold a degree in Accounting or Finance or possess a recognised professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA.
  • Bring at least ten years’ experience working within manufacturing companies where you have managed complex finance operations end-to-end.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude with proactive commitment towards achieving results even under tight deadlines.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills that enable you to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different functions.
  • Display high levels of integrity alongside advanced analytical abilities essential for interpreting financial data accurately.
  • Show proven capability in coordinating audits (both internal and external) while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards such as MFRS/IFRS.
  • Possess hands-on experience in budgeting processes—including constructing annual budgets or rolling forecasts—and delivering insightful variance analyses.
  • Have practical knowledge of digitising or automating FP&A processes using modern tools like BI dashboards or standardised reporting packs.
  • Demonstrate success in building cohesive teams through effective coaching methods that foster collaboration among diverse groups.
