This position is perfect for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys working independently and managing the full spectrum of accounting responsibilities while making a meaningful impact on business performance. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring robust financial management, compliance with statutory requirements, and seamless collaboration with international stakeholders. With direct exposure to regional operations and the chance to work closely with senior finance leadership based overseas, this role offers both challenge and reward for those seeking to further their career in a supportive and globally connected environment. * Take ownership of end-to-end finance operations across three countries, providing essential support to both local and international teams while developing your expertise in cross-border accounting. * Enjoy the autonomy of a standalone role where your attention to detail and proactive approach will be highly valued, with direct reporting lines to senior finance leadership based in the UK. * Benefit from exposure to regional operations, close collaboration with knowledgeable colleagues, and opportunities for professional growth within a respected international manufacturing environment.
What you'll do:
As an Accountant in this established manufacturing organisation, you will be entrusted with managing the complete finance function across Malaysia and multiple regional entities. Your day-to-day activities will involve everything from maintaining accurate general ledger records to preparing insightful monthly reports for headquarters. You will oversee both accounts receivable and payable processes, ensuring smooth cash flow management while upholding rigorous compliance standards. Working closely with international stakeholders—including direct reporting to senior finance leadership based in the UK—you will also play a vital role in budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, inventory accounting, and driving process improvements. Your ability to work independently will be crucial as you support operational efficiency initiatives that contribute directly to business success.
- Maintain comprehensive full set accounts for entities in Malaysia and regionally, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
- Perform month-end closing activities including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and preparation of detailed monthly financial reports for headquarters.
- Oversee sales invoicing processes, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and invoices are issued promptly to support healthy cash flow.
- Manage accounts receivable functions by monitoring debtor balances, following up on overdue payments, and maintaining effective credit control procedures.
- Handle accounts payable duties such as purchase order approvals, three-way matching of documents (POs, invoices, delivery notes), and timely supplier payment runs.
- Maintain accurate stock records and inventory accounting systems to support operational efficiency and provide reliable data for decision-making.
- Prepare annual budgets in collaboration with management teams and assist in forecasting processes to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and statutory requirements across all jurisdictions while supporting annual audits and liaising with external auditors as needed.
- Maintain intercompany transactions by performing regular reconciliations and resolving discrepancies between entities efficiently.
- Develop, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive continuous improvement in financial control processes and support management decision-making.
What you bring:
To excel as an Accountant within this international manufacturing setting, you will bring not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills that enable you to connect seamlessly with colleagues across borders. Your background should include significant experience handling full set accounts—ideally within a manufacturing or industrial context—where you have demonstrated reliability managing complex financial operations independently. Your thorough understanding of AR/AP cycles, general ledger maintenance, compliance matters, budgeting practices, and audit support will be complemented by your ability to communicate clearly in English when engaging with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. A keen eye for detail paired with a proactive mindset ensures that you consistently deliver high-quality results while contributing positively to team goals. Experience navigating intercompany transactions or supporting process improvements will further distinguish you as an ideal fit for this rewarding opportunity.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in accounting roles with proven expertise managing full set accounts across multiple entities or regions.
- Previous exposure to manufacturing or industrial environments is highly desirable as it provides valuable context for understanding operational finance needs.
- Comfortable operating as the sole finance professional within a business unit or entity while demonstrating dependability and initiative.
- Thorough understanding of accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), general ledger processes, and best practices for financial control.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards including budgeting techniques, compliance requirements, and statutory obligations relevant to Malaysia or regional.
- Excellent communication skills in English enabling you to collaborate effectively with international colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
- Meticulous attention to detail combined with a proactive approach ensures accuracy in all aspects of financial management.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while remaining responsive to team needs; able to prioritise tasks efficiently under minimal supervision.
- Experience supporting annual audits by preparing documentation and liaising professionally with external auditors is advantageous.
