A Finance Manager job has become available at a company in renewable energy and engineering industry based in Petaling Jaya.

A leading renewable energy and engineering organisation is seeking a Finance Manager to become the financial anchor for its Malaysia and Singapore operations, based in Petaling Jaya. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape the financial future of utility-scale solar and infrastructure projects, ensuring robust project costing, disciplined cashflow management, and unwavering statutory compliance. You will be at the heart of a supportive team environment, collaborating closely with project managers, procurement specialists, and regional finance leaders to deliver projects within budget while upholding transparency and governance. The organisation values your expertise in construction or EPC finance—especially if you bring experience from developer companies or large infrastructure environments—and rewards your commitment with a competitive salary package ranging from RM156,000 to RM180,000 per annum. If you are passionate about renewable energy and eager to make a tangible impact on sustainable infrastructure, this is your chance to join an inclusive workplace that encourages professional growth and knowledge sharing.

* Competitive annual salary between RM156,000 and RM180,000 with opportunities for career progression in a growing sector.
* Exciting working opportunity in Petaling Jaya supporting professional development.
* Be part of a collaborative team driving impactful renewable energy projects across Malaysia and Singapore.

What you'll do:

As Finance Manager, you will play a central role in overseeing the financial health of complex engineering projects from inception through completion. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing comprehensive budgets for large-scale solar installations, monitoring expenditures against forecasts, tracking variations and claims during construction phases, and ensuring all contract accounting requirements are met. You will also be responsible for preparing timely cashflow forecasts that keep multiple projects running smoothly while managing relationships with banks for funding needs. In addition to statutory reporting duties—including tax compliance—you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with operational goals. Your leadership will extend to coaching the finance team and driving process improvements that enhance efficiency across systems and reporting structures. Success in this role means not only safeguarding the organisation’s financial interests but also contributing positively to the delivery of sustainable infrastructure solutions.

* Develop and manage detailed budgets for utility-scale solar and infrastructure installations, ensuring every project phase is financially sound.
* Monitor ongoing project budgets by conducting cost-to-complete analyses and margin reviews to maintain financial discipline throughout each stage.
* Track all project costs, variations, claims, and progress billings across engineering, procurement, and construction phases for accurate reporting.
* Ensure precise percentage-of-completion or contract accounting practices are followed for all projects under your purview.
* Review subcontractor payments, retention sums, and final accounts to guarantee contractual obligations are met efficiently.
* Implement cost control measures alongside variance analysis to support responsible spending and resource allocation.
* Support bid pricing activities by providing insightful financial inputs for new project tenders and proposals.
* Prepare rolling cashflow forecasts across multiple concurrent projects to ensure liquidity is maintained at all times.
* Manage treasury operations including payments, collections, fund allocations, and liaise with banks for drawdowns or guarantees as needed.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts while ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards such as MFRS/IFRS.

What you bring:

Your proven experience as a Finance Manager—or similar senior finance role—will enable you to thrive in this multifaceted position. You bring not only technical expertise in budgeting, forecasting and statutory compliance but also an ability to communicate complex concepts effectively across diverse teams. Your background includes hands-on involvement with large-scale construction or EPC projects where you have managed everything from cost controls through treasury operations. Familiarity with advanced ERP systems ensures you can drive process improvements seamlessly. Most importantly, your interpersonal skills foster trust among colleagues while your leadership style supports both individual growth and collective achievement. Experience gained within developer companies or major infrastructure organisations will be especially valued here; so too will any exposure you have had to investment planning or managing relationships with external financiers.

* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent qualifications are highly preferred for this position.
* 5–8 years of relevant finance experience ideally gained within construction, engineering, infrastructure or EPC sectors—preferably in renewable energy environments.
* Demonstrated understanding of project costing methodologies including WIP accounting, cost control mechanisms and effective cashflow management strategies.
* Proven track record managing treasury operations and working capital within a project-based setting involving multiple stakeholders.
* Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics 365 (or their equivalents).
* Excellent analytical skills combined with strong organisational abilities enabling you to handle complex reporting requirements efficiently.
* Outstanding communication skills allowing you to explain intricate financial matters clearly to non-finance colleagues across departments.
* Experience leading teams with a focus on nurturing talent development while fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
* Background working in developer company finance or large infrastructure firms such as telco operators, toll road companies or water treatment conglomerates is considered advantageous.
* Relevant exposure to investment activities, debt management processes or banking relationship management will further strengthen your application.
