What you'll do:
As Head of Finance – Project, you will play an integral role as the financial backbone of this landmark initiative. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you partnering closely with executive leadership to provide strategic guidance on all matters related to capital allocation, risk management, Sukuk structuring, and regulatory compliance. You will oversee every aspect of financial planning—from scenario modelling through real-time reporting—while ensuring that all activities adhere strictly to Islamic Finance principles. - Act as the primary financial advisor to the CEO by providing comprehensive forecasting, scenario modelling, and strategic planning support tailored to the evolving needs of a mega-scale data centre project.
- Prepare and present detailed financial insights covering cash flow management, liabilities assessment, funding adequacy analysis, and risk exposure evaluation to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop dynamic financial models that align with project progress milestones and capital deployment schedules while advising on the financial impact of contracts, scope changes, or timeline acceleration.
- Lead all Sukuk drawdown processes including compliance verification, documentation preparation, approval coordination, and alignment with project milestones; ensure strict adherence to Shariah principles throughout.
- Structure repayment schedules for Sukuk financing while maintaining covenant compliance; manage trustee reporting obligations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Establish robust frameworks for Malaysian tax compliance, transfer pricing guidelines adherence, accounting standards implementation (IFRS/MFRS), and audit readiness across all project entities.
- Monitor overall project financial health by tracking budgets versus actuals; implement cost control measures without compromising delivery speed; develop real-time dashboards highlighting risks or funding gaps.
- Oversee treasury operations including cash flow optimisation, liquidity management strategies, capital deployment planning, foreign exchange risk mitigation, and banking relationship management.
- Deliver comprehensive reports to the CEO, Board members, trustees, lenders, regulators, and investors—translating complex financial data into actionable insights for informed decision-making.
- Build and nurture a high-performing finance team by establishing clear roles and accountability structures; mentor team members in Islamic Finance best practices while fostering a culture of discipline and proactive risk management.

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field coupled with a recognised professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or CFA; postgraduate qualifications (MBA/Master’s) are advantageous.
- Certification in Islamic Finance (e.g., CIFP or CIPA) is highly preferred given the critical importance of Sukuk structures within this project context.
- 10–15 years’ progressive experience in finance leadership roles with proven success managing large-scale infrastructure or billion-ringgit projects from structuring through completion.
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise in Sukuk issuance processes—including drawdowns and compliance—as well as deep familiarity with AAOIFI standards and Malaysian regulatory frameworks governing Islamic Finance.
- Comprehensive understanding of treasury operations including cash flow optimisation strategies; experience managing foreign exchange exposures is highly desirable.
- Proven track record implementing robust cost control measures alongside budget tracking systems within fast-track or high-pressure environments.
- Advanced proficiency in developing dynamic financial models aligned with complex project milestones; strong analytical skills are essential for scenario planning.
- Experience overseeing tax compliance (including transfer pricing) under Malaysian regulations; ability to coordinate effectively with legal counsel or tax advisors for optimal structuring outcomes.
