Chief Financial Officer
An exciting Chief Financial Officer job opportunity has become available at Kuala Lumpur.
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to join a lean, high-performing organisation based in Kuala Lumpur. This role offers the chance to work closely with the CEO, and trusted advisors, providing strategic financial guidance at the highest level. As the principal financial adviser, you will play a pivotal part in shaping group strategy into actionable financial plans while ensuring robust compliance and governance across all entities. With a focus on both property and financial asset portfolios, this position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, values flexibility, and is passionate about delivering long-term value for stakeholders. The organisation’s largely outsourced model means you will have significant influence over finance operations, working with a small internal team and external partners to drive results. If you are seeking a role that combines strategic impact, operational oversight, and the opportunity to support family office interests with discretion and integrity, this could be your next career move.
- Work directly with the CEO and executive leadership to translate business strategy into rigorous financial plans and decision-ready options that shape the future of the organisation.
- Oversee all aspects of financial stewardship, including compliance, reporting, treasury management, tax structuring, and governance across multiple entities within Malaysia.
- Lead a talented finance team within a supportive environment that values collaboration, professional growth, and flexible working arrangements tailored to a lean organisational structure.
What you'll do:
As Chief Financial Officer based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be entrusted with end-to-end responsibility for all aspects of financial management within a lean yet complex organisational structure. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with senior leadership to align business objectives with sound financial strategies. You will oversee both property-related investments—working hand-in-hand with operational leaders—and diverse asset portfolios managed through external partners. In addition to managing core finance functions such as treasury operations and tax structuring, you will play an integral role in maintaining governance frameworks that safeguard stakeholder interests. Success in this role requires not only technical expertise but also an ability to foster teamwork within your department while building strong relationships with external advisors. Your contribution will extend beyond traditional finance duties as you provide confidential support to family office initiatives—ensuring that all reporting meets the highest standards of accuracy and discretion.
- Act as the principal financial adviser to the CEO by translating group strategy into comprehensive financial plans and presenting clear options for major decisions.
- Take ownership of compliance and financial reporting integrity across all Malaysian entities to ensure accuracy and transparency at every level.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and Head of Property to enhance the financial performance of the investment-property portfolio by strengthening occupancy rates, tenancy agreements, and rental yields.
- Work alongside the CEO and outsourced Chief Investment Officer function to optimise risk-adjusted returns and liquidity
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, financing activities, and capital allocation throughout the group to maintain liquidity and prudent gearing.
- Oversee Malaysia’s tax affairs and corporate structure by applying expertise in trust structures as well as international and cross-border taxation matters in partnership with external advisers.
- Maintain a strong control environment by implementing robust internal controls over procurement processes, leasing arrangements, and approval workflows.
- Supervise corporate matters including statutory compliance, entity management, board administration, shareholder relations, and global reporting obligations such as CRS, AML, and KYC requirements.
- Build, lead, mentor, and develop a fit-for-purpose finance team while overseeing outsourced finance providers to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide discreet support to the family office and trustees by offering insightful financial analysis, wealth-structuring advice, and reporting that upholds long-term trust-based ownership standards.
What you bring:
The successful candidate for Chief Financial Officer will bring substantial experience from senior finance roles where they have demonstrated both technical proficiency and interpersonal acumen. Your background should include direct involvement in strategic planning processes alongside C-suite executives—translating vision into actionable outcomes through detailed analysis. You will have managed complex property assets as well as diversified investment portfolios requiring careful risk assessment. Familiarity with local tax laws combined with exposure to international structuring is essential given the cross-border nature of many transactions handled by this organisation. Beyond technical skills you must excel at fostering collaboration within your team—supporting colleagues’ development while ensuring operational excellence through effective partnerships with external advisors. Discretion is paramount when dealing with sensitive family office matters so your approach must reflect integrity at every stage.
- Hold a recognised professional accountancy qualification such as ACCA, CPA Australia, MICPA-CAANZ or equivalent along with membership in the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) or similar body.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in strategic financial planning within multi-entity environments where you have acted as a trusted adviser to senior executives.
- Showcase proven expertise in managing property investment portfolios including driving improvements in occupancy rates, tenancy management, rental yield optimisation, and recurring surplus generation.
- Possess hands-on knowledge of managing diversified investment portfolios with an understanding of risk-adjusted performance metrics and liquidity management.
- Exhibit advanced skills in treasury operations encompassing cash flow management, banking relationships maintenance, financing arrangements oversight, and capital allocation strategies.
- Display deep familiarity with Malaysian tax regulations as well as international tax structuring principles relevant to trusts or cross-border transactions.
- Have a track record of establishing robust governance frameworks including internal controls over procurement processes, leasing contracts administration, approvals workflow design—and ensuring regulatory compliance at all times.
- Bring experience supervising company secretarial functions covering statutory filings; entity structure management; board/shareholder administration; corporate transactions; plus global reporting obligations like CRS/AML/KYC compliance.
- Demonstrate capability in building cohesive teams—mentoring staff members while effectively managing outsourced service providers—to deliver high-quality finance operations.
- Show sensitivity when supporting family offices or trustees by providing confidential insight into wealth structuring issues coupled with accurate reporting aligned with long-term ownership models.
